It's a pop song with some great guitar noodling and a solo, not a kick butt rock track like SNL or the Brit Awards. I swear the man could use a producer on how to make a guitar rock song. Way too overproduced and no grit. I think unfortunately it's slightly slower than the live performances yet, that takes away a little from it. Besides that, I KNEW it wouldn't be as great as hot as the performances of it, so I'm cool with it.

I'm just glad I've got the SNL performance still in my library. Bring on 3121 Special Edition! (or will that be 4232) It's also just a terrible mix. His vocals are way up front. And not one ounce of guitar crunch in it. Just his (albeit well played) squeeling noodling and solos from the guitar. He should have just cut it live and put it on the album, it would have been 10 x's better. No hard feelings.

I saw that coming with Fury. Whenever fans hear a new song live, Prince makes it sound amazing compared to the then usually comparitavely lame studio version. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

And as much as I like my luscious textures, the synths in this track shouldn't be so prominent either (at most they should flesh out the guitar sound). Oh well. I guess I'll just HAVE to go see him live when he tours the UK. Which he will. Oh yes, he will. [Edited 3/6/06 9:22am]

I guess I'll just HAVE to go see him live when he tours the UK. Which he will. Oh yes, he will. It's like "Yeah, kick that treble, Prince! Just love that synth groove!" I've also heard 3121 and Get On the Boat. 3121 is fun and got some good production but Get on The Boat is just another jam, nothing overly special. Taking that with Black Sweat and BLB, I just don't see this album being anything more than Musicology Pt 2. It's good because it's Prince and so you know talent is involved, but I'm having a hard time belieivng this is going to be a classic anymore than the aforementioned Musicology. Edit -- Also Lolita -- repetitive. Fun, but a 'classic'? To each their own, I guess. [Edited 3/6/06 9:24am] No hard feelings.

This is one hell of an album. 'Love' is the one that's standing out for me at the moment.
I'm really looking forward to obsessively listening to this album: every beat, every note, every riff. This is like the old days.

will you BUY it? Of course! and yes. I'm elated with this album. listening to it at the moment, lots of nods to his past on it. Very accesible upon first couple of listens. Love, Lolita, The Word are standout tracks for me. 8 out of 10.

You don't like the song anyway! You never read my follow-up posts about it way later? I later heard the song again and announced how much it'd grown on me, and how I loved it now. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

will you BUY it? Without any hesitation. It's a 9 out of 10 for me. My jams are Love, Black Sweat, Lolita, 3121, and The Word. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
