Prince and the Madhouse recordings

In light of the interesting post about Prince and Miles Davis, which also talked about Madhouse 8 and 16..I'm wondering the cd's are not more readily available..i.e you can't just go to Best Buy or Tower and pick up a copy

Same reason why The Family, Jill Jones, Sheila's 3rd album, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Mazarati etc, etc, etc are not easily available on the shelves of every CD store - it's probably not worth the record company's effort to re-issue them, or they don't think it's worth it, or such...

If you don't want to pay mega-bucks for the CDs, pick up a mint vinyl copy, it'll sound better any ways.

because i was too cheap for a 99 cent cd at big lots. of course, now that album is one of my favorite prince-related ANYTHINGS from the 80s. and i have to live with that fact every day for the rest of my life! sad

i bought it when it first came out, but it was on cassette. and fortunately i have it on CDR, but it's not the same.

you brought up something that was on my mind...back in the day, Prince's output was just...voluminous. Now, he writes for himself (as far as I know that is..), but perhaps his involvment with Tamar means the faucet's going to open up a bit.

Does anyone know the business reason why all the Paisley Park and much of the WB Prince protegee stuff is out of print? Madhouse, Jill Jones, The Family, etc. would sell more copies than the literally thousands of obscure stuff that the label keeps in the marketplace. There must be some other legal or business reason.

The live drums on Madhouse 8 are brilliant. The keys are also great. Does anybody know if this is Prince throughout the project. It sounds like his quirky, odd note producing, and clever musical mind. I once read that the album is basically P and Eric Leeds and 16 is more of a group effort.

Yeah, that's pretty stupid. But top this, I borrowed an aquaintance the original lp pressing of the Black Album to LISTEN to and never got it back. I bought it out of the back of this cool Madison, WI college record store right out of a box full of the illegal contraband. I can't believe I didn't buy several. Since then i've verified through several sources it's legitimacy.

It's the same reason i don't pick up every Crystall ball and Emacipation set I see brand new in record stores, I've bought Crystall ball a cpl of times for $7.99 and Emancipation for 5.99 BRAND NEW!!! I've never seen sets liek this all cheap by a major artist.
