That "Beautiful Experience" version is truly the best, it´s the "original" version as far as I´m concerned..."Now" also sounds much, much tighter in that TV special....never sounded better after that version, neither in the studio nor live.

I agree with you -- that is the best version of the song.

Unfortunately, I never liked the track in the first place. I never liked that whole pre-Gold period. I think it's one of his worst. He played those trax relentlessly--Days of Wild, Interactive, The Ride. I hated them, thought they were really boring.

the best one is the glam slam performance of summer 93 or 94

i always forget the date.

it's 13 minutes and some long and features a bit of 7779311
and other stuff.

it ends with a roaring solo, sounds like a bassguitar that
he plays just like a regular guitar. absolutely rocking.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Absolutely agreed. The versions of "Come", "Days of Wild" and "Now" on the "Beautful Experience" TV special were outstanding. I remember being so disappointed by the album versions of "Come" and "Now" in particular when I heard them, especially as the version of "Now" on album is an incoherent mess whilst the version on the special was so incredibly tight.

"Shhh" was excellent on that show too.

wait... what??? The version of Now on the album was far more coherent then the live one (the live one sounds like he's huffing to keep up with the sputtering drumbeat, and it looses its topsy turvy funky feel and sounds more like a bombing or machine gunning).... Days of Wild is very cool and HEAVY live, but the studio one is a completely different, too cool to be bothered vibe. Come... I think both versions are GREAT.

Well, the Beauftiful Experience version is "the original" in my books too, but the official Crystal Ball version does it the most for me, cause it's pretty much the most aggressive and has the most low-end (Was Sonny playing the bass with a distortion pedal?). The "single" version with Larry Graham from a couple of years ago wasn't terribly bad either, I was actually quite surprised how good it was.

Definately, The L.A. Glam Slam I was there that night! Prince was ripping on the LA crowd 'cause we couldn't get the handclaps in time like they apparently do back in MNPLS! Which just inspired me to start chanting L.A.!!! Which got the whole crowd going! If anyone else remembers, Mayte was dancing around for the longest with one of her jummblies hanging out! I remember most guys faces in disbelief & just looking around at each other... no one wanted to get her attention to acknowledge it! Eventually she realized it and was in obvious embarrassment! 2 funny! Also, Stevie Wonder performed with him that night, it was an amazing show and Thee Best version of Days of Wild!
Never let me slip, cause if I slip, then I'm slippin

I love the Montreal ONA version. Yeah, I know there's so many overdubs that it's practically a studio version, but that is hands down 1 of the most unstoppable jams the man has ever created-in any incarnation.
