disappointed with fury, i had high hopes after the SNL performance but sounds rather weak on the album. doesnt really mesh well on the album, the SNL version with the guitar and vocal would have been perfect. oh well

Alright, Fury-fans, look out. There's some HEAVY crazy wild guitars on there. Vocals are slightly different, though.

wel, for instance, BL&B is extended a bit near the end.. the funk part is drawn out a bit longer

Wow, The Dance is a lot different from the Chocolate Invasion version! eek Better, IMHO, there's certainly a lot more to it here.

I think we Prince fans tend to "delude" ourselves when it comes to his "musicality". I really have been thinking about this alot, especially during his 90's period. What really makes, or made, Prince great? It definetly isnt any "experimental" factor to his music, because lets face it, he never has been that. Prince's so called experiments consisted mostly of removing bass lines from songs that would traditionally have bass. Cool and different, yes, but hardly experimental. Someone in another post stated this album sounds like something that would be on the radio. When hasnt a Prince album sounded like radio music? I mean, really? Purple Rain, 1999, Sign, D and P? RADIO.

The only time Princes music had a "different" quality to it was when he was being inspired and challenged by other musicians, in particular Wendy and Lisa. But when Prince is doing everything himself, his albums have always been pretty standard rock, pop, and R and B, the exceptional and wonderful part being excellent song writing.

Thats what he seems to have forgot how to do alot of the time, instead over-producing his songs with sound effects and a high sheen. He is at his best when the music's core is simply structured, with layers added when necessary. What if Sign o the Times, the song, had keyboards floating all through the track? It wouldnt be the same. What made that song great wasnt experimentation. It was simplicity and good lyrics (cause lets face it, he is the greatest lyricist in the world).Go back and listen to your albums, and ull see what I'm talking about.

Minimalism is still experimentation. And by all accounts, Prince is one of the most experimental of the mainstream pop musicians to grace this planet.

Well, sorry. There I don't agree at all.
