He needs to play Emancipation songs live.

He seems to avoid this album, even though this is the album that he was "born to make." Imagine a great live version of The Love You Make or Sex In The Summer. I have a feeling this album reminds him of the Mayte thing and his baby.

Sad, because this album has lots of songs that would sound amazing live.

I agree. Hidden deep within the utter filler on Emancipation lies a great Prince album.

I'd die to hear him perform songs like Soul Sanctuary and The Love We Make in concert these days.

I agree. Joint2Joint, Holy River (bad ass live), And some others would sound kick ass live. It is one of my favorite albums personally.

I am seeing a lot more positive Emancipation threads as of late...

Some good songs in there, just a shame that the production is so,"soul-less".

Holy River, Face Down, The Love We Make would be killer with a live band.

I do think there's something to the Mayte connection as well. You never see any of those songs in the live set.

I agree. I would love to hear the title track, "White Mansion" and his version of "One of Us." That would be great wink .

I'd love to hear some songs off of Emancipation live. Songs like:

The Love We Make
Soul Sanctuary
Sleep Around (I didn't go to the Jam Of The Year shows)
One Kiss At A Time
New World (don't know how it would work but I'd love to see him try it)
Face Down
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I disagree. Maybe down the line, but right now he has to concentrate on creating new music as removed as possible from the whole of Emancipation. Even if there are some good songs on it, there are worthier songs he hardly ever performs that should be played before he even considers what's on Emancipation.

Also, I think it's very likely that he associates very painful memories to that album so don't hold your breath waiting for tracks from disc 2, in particular.

2freaky.....I nominate you as the new tour manager!!! Sex in the Summer is one of his most underrated/unused jams. Emancipation is by far his most "rounded" work of all, and is not appreciated like it should be.

Well, maybe when he divorces Mani, he'll finally go back to Mayte and they can make love and he'll release another 3 CD set and he'll play it a lot a lot a lot live. Hehe.

didn't he play "The Love We Make" at the filmore in 2004? i seem to recall that. thinking back to the shows of 97, FaceDown was great. Holy River was not as good as you'd think it would be.

has he ever played joint2joint?

I think the production on alot of Emancipation is weak + the weak ass kirkyJ drums, but i do like alot of songs off those discs.

Prince played "One Kiss At A Time" at the week-long celebration at Paisley Park. It was played on the "Acoustic Show Night."

He also played Soul Sanctuary during one of his piano sets....it was fantastic. I really dug that acoustic version of One Kiss At A Time. I definitely think some of the songs are worth revisiting. The Love We Make in particular.

As has been pointed out by a few people, he has played tracks from this album here and there - Jam Of The Year, The Holy River, Face Down, One Of Us, Soul Sanctuary, The Love We Make, One Kiss At A Time - there may be others?

In essence, though, they're all album tracks since the only hits were The Holy River and Betch By Golly Wow and not very big hits at that, and if he's going to play album tracks, well there's tons of others I'd like to hear before he gets to the Emancipation ones!
