we all know prince ahs been a huge innovator in recent musical history, but what did he do first? was he the first 18 year old solo artist to play all the tracks on his debut album and to produce and arrange it too? i think he was, but if so what else has he done? it seems like over the last few years he's been doing a lot of copying of other artists, except the rainbow children which was truly original. but he hated rap in the eighties and then has rap all over his early 90's albums. i'm not slagging prince off here. i would just like to know what he invented in terms of popular music.
