Universal's 3121 press release contains ridiculous errors

Why does the press release from Universal contain such ridiculous errors?

Prince's Universal Records Debut, 3121, In-Stores March 21st; Sizzling New Single And Video, ''Black Sweat,'' Kicks Off New Release In Classic Prince Style
February 27, 2006 09:39 AM US Eastern Timezone

[...]

A series of genre defying albums - from 1985's Around The World In A Day, to 1987's prophetic A Sign Of The Times,

"A" Sign Of The Times? That's the first time in nearly 20 years that I've seen anyone call it that.

With more than 60 million records sold, Prince launched his web-centric NPG Music Club in the early '90s,

Really? Let's see:

Prince Announces Worldwide Launch of NPG Music Club, the Music Club Where Members are Connected Like Family

Business Wire, Feb 9, 2001

Since when does February 2001 belong to the "early '90s"?

pioneering direct sales and value-added content that would become the artist-driven online entrepreneurial model artists and internet gurus would be flocking to by the end of the decade.

Apparently, Prince invented the internet. Nevermind that George Michael and David Bowie had been doing this way earlier...

i can see how they would make some mistakes on the online stuff,
and didn't he have a website launched back in 1997 (which still
is hardly the early '90s though).

anyway, beyond that, it is simply preposterous for them to call
"Sign o' The Times" "a sign of the times". that is like calling
"Sticky Fingers" "some sticky fingers".

The worst error was the part that said "Prince's career literally exploded in the 80's"

How the hell can a career "LITERALLY" explode? lol

falloff lol

No. Prince used to have a site called The Dawn ten or more years ago. Wonder if he was the first major artist to have a website?

there could not have been too many before that. (as far as www.com sites) netscape was not even "public" until 94 or 95.

Sheesh. I frikking mention two web-savvy artists in my original post.

DavidBowie.com: "Record created on 06-Aug-1995"

Whereas TheDawn.com went live in early 1996.

Prince also has a habit of mentioning his new site on his CD, then abandoning that site months later. Isn't it idiotic that he let TheDawn.com slip from his hands? IIRC it was one of the sites that got a threatening email because they had put up photos of Prince.

It was a test to see if you were still paying attention. They figure having you back here with Byron would be great viral marketing!
