The song is even quirkier when you listen to the lyrics. What man sits at home knitting a coat for his girlfriend? Is the situation even real? or is the coat just a big metaphor for a vagina? LOL. What's up with the role reversal in this song?

I hardly see this great tune mentioned here... do u guys like it? ... Just curious wink

I always thought it would have fit very good on SOTT (when was it recorded btw?); just a shame it isn't to be found on a regular album.

I love that song too, especially the many background voices like in the middle of the song when you can hear Prince saying something like "shabulabula shabop owwwh"...

well if someone can spell it correctlly that's will be fun smile

I love this song also. Great song, although the actual thought of making someone a coat and moreover out of pink cashmere is wierd. Obviously, he meant that shit, so I could roll with it. I really really felt that he should have included it in his acoustic segment of his last tour. It would have been perfect. It would have also been ok in his ONA piano solos segment also. Maybe not as great there, but it still would have worked.

IMO, this song is a prime example of Prince's lack of judgement of his own work sometimes. That he sat on this song till 1993, and it ended up only as a track on a best of, albiet a single, with a crappy compilation video - It says a lot about Prince's judgement of his own work.

actually, that wasn't his doing. Shortly after the symbol album, he wanted to release a 4 track EP with Pink Cashmere, Peach, Pope, and Nothing Compares 2 U - Warners balked and insisted on releasing them on a greatest hits set instead.

That disagreement started the path towards the whole Slave thing.

According to Prince lore, he really did have a coat of pink cashmere made for Anna "Fantastic" Garcia--for her birthday or something. I know I read some scanned interview that she did about how he flew here over to the US for her 18th birthday and had all these clothes made for her. I looked in the gallery for it, but couldn't find it. (Maybe I read it at HQ?) Can anyone else find it?

cool
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I've never seen a picture of this Anna Fantastic. Is there a picture of her that someone can post? She's the most mysterious of all Prince's women. Maybe it was the age.

Awesome track. But I'm surprised it was recorded in '88 because it always sounded so 90's to me. Definitely helped to make Girl 6 a worthwhile compilation.
Don't hurt me, I'm a newb. I'm supposed to be stupid.

Thanks for the pictures. Very much worthy of a pink cashmere anything.
