DITTO. Further, I appreciate that Prince did this type of album. Like he said, it would have been too easy for him to do a "Purple Rain II." This album, it could be said, weeded out most of the "fair-weather fans" but impressed most people who took the time to try to follow it. Not only are all the songs on the album itself good, but all the b-sides which came out at the time are too: "She's Always In My Hair," "Hello" & "Girl"- especially "Girl".. It's amazing how an album could have so many different styles on it, yet, the songs all pretty much fit in with the overall theme of the album.. I'll see you tonight..

It was, indeed, a very ballsy move on Prince's part and I am glad that he made the choice! Integrity!!! SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

I Agree with you.it sounded like Prince was on something to Me.the Vocals threw me for a loop.also the Album for Me was just To Light&fluffy White.not to mention as Jimmy Jam had pointed out He got alot of Re-Thread Use: "America" was "Baby I'm a Star"."The Ladder" was "Purple Rain"."Pasiley Park" without the Bass is first cousin to the same effect of "When Doves Cry",the title cut kinda reminds me a bit of 'Take Me With u". my dtand out tracks were "Raspbery Beret"&"Pop Life".but I'd take "She's Always in My Hair" with flying Colors over both them Combined if it had have made the cut."Tamborine" though on a Interesting Note the Beat&Groove was where I see a Influence on Timberland's Sound. He is a Big Prince Fan&I hear that with that Song.It took ALOT of guts to say that!...lol... mistermaxxx

It took ALOT of guts to say that!...lol... I agree with you. It's not one of my favorites, but it's not the worst album he's made. And although it really was important in the sense to show people he wasn't going to cave into the pressure of producing Purple Rain Pt. II by rehashing it, it doesn't have the flow or cohesiveness of his best albums. Don't be afraid to say what you don't like. Anybody that puts out as much music as Prince has isn't going to hit on all cylinders musically every time. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
