12 track prince win over compilation...

On the back of media exposiure of prince at the moment a teenager comes to you and asks for a 12 track compilation album of Prince songs..... what would you chose? Remember this is for a teenager therefore you need to grab the attention and then KEEP IT!!

mine would be

1. Black Sweat
2. Sex in the summer
3. Sign of the times
4. Good life (platinum people mix)
5. How come you don't call me anymore
6. Sexy MF
7. Mr Man
8. How come you don't call me any more
9. 18 and over
10. If eye was the man in u're life
11. I love you in me
12. Somebody's somebody

I know most are recent (ish) tracks but i feel old sounding tracks will switch a teenager off especially at the very start of the cd..... I've included a remix of a track as it was released on the single and certain versions of the album AND I MAKE THE RULES (its my question!! wink )

i started off with black sweat because it is current and fresh.
I love you in me included because i know as a teenager i found the lyrics a little shocking in a good way!!

Cheers

I work with teenagers and most of them would bust a spleen laughing at "18 & Over," "Sex In The Summer" and "Sexy MF."

in my bar when we play sexy mf most 18/19 year olds dance their asses off, maybe because they're old teenagers i don't know, but thats the reason i included this in the list. My bar has many young chalet hosts and they seem to love both supercute and sexy mf. Safe to say i think i play the most prince music out of any bar in the Alps!!! smile

Stay happy

I never put any of the stuff on that a 'neutral' would laugh at - lets be honest songs like I Wanna Melt with U, RIPOPGODAZIPPA, The Flow etc need a certain level of understanding and reaidng between the lines before you can listen to them without peeing yourself.

Im not sure Sister would do wonders in convincing the general population that P isnt a pervert.

Im not ripping apart your selection - its just interesting to see what other people thing would pass and why certain things wouldnt

I actually think convincing teens Prince is a pervert is one way to get them to like him. But Sister is an exciting song. I chose most of these because of the sound, not the lyrics. Music's much more important to me.

I see what you're saying about Ripop..., the Flow, etc, but I always thought I Wanna Melt With U is a really cool song. You need to "read between the lines" as you say, to truly understand where he's coming from lyrically, but even on the surface it's good. Maybe I'm a dork?

My 13 year old daughter loved it...lol...it's quirky enough and similar enough in it's beat to what's being played now that I think it would do the trick.

No you're not a dork at all...I just thought that, in a mrket awash with crappy dance tunes which obviously sell really well, anything slightly not 'straight down the middle' dance would raise a few eyebrows (I remember around that period that Hardcore Dance was really in...and tehn Prince released I Wanna Melt With U and the 'Hardcore Club Mix' of My Name Is Prince....in comparison they were as soft as grease and,in my area, got laughed at)

I suppose any open minded teen would accept Sister for an edgy song...you'll always get a few that will go "yuk, he boffed his sister"....but we dont want to muddy the Prince pool with them anyway wink

I see. I thought you thought those songs weren't as cool as other contemporary dance stuff, but I guess you're saying it's too daring?

The remixes are usually mistakes. Like Tell Me How U Wanna Be Done, So Dark, 18 & Over. Minor keys (even drug free) don't make a roller skate jam.
