I think so. If not, I'd hate to think of what Electric Intercourse might entail! eek

That is a pretty stupid line. Granted, Prince has never been a truly great lyricist..though he does have his better moments. However, I think the line and imagery makes perfect sense AND stands well in terms of artistic achievement when viewed along the lines of "Octopus's Garden" (sp?) or "Yellow Submarine." Prince was introduced to a lot of classic Beatles around this time, and I think that it really shows. As do the entire albums ATWIAD and Parade. As much as I admire the Beatles, I think Prince could've smoked them if he kept on that path...the sort of psychedlic pop-rock thing. But, luckily for us all, he shifts gears so frequently. And we weren't subjected to any "Her Satanic Majesties Request" nonsense (sorry, Mick!) from Prince.

As do I. I'm a huge Stones fan, as well as a Prince fan (obviously!). I think ATWIAD has HSMR beat by a looooong shot. Nothing on Prince's disc is nearly as rambling as damn near half of the Stones' misfire, though I do LOVE 2,000 Man, 2,000 Light Years From Home, She's a Rainbow, and Citadel (an underappreciated masterpiece).

I've always thought Empty Room was overrated, too.

Easy one. Crystal Ball. I had always heard how complex it was and how it was the summary of all he was working up to and when I heard it, I was blown away by it's pretention and general hokiness (is that a word?).

I am so glad it didn't come out on an album because it really isn't that good when compared to the other tracks he was working on during that period.

Also, having been lucky enough to hear Adonis and Bathsheba, I can tell you I got a similar feeling when I heard it. Susan Rogers was TOTALLY right about it being a bad track. Not one you want to seek out. Put your energy into finding other, BETTER unreleased tracks to hear.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I've been pretty pleased so far. Possibly the only ones that I'd heard a lot about that didn't do much for me were Dance Electric and Witness f4 the Prosecution. Witness has grown on me, and I like it now. I want to like Dance Electric, but it's so long and repetitive.

I never heard about Splash before I first heard it. I like it, but it's no masterpiece and not especially praiseworthy, but it's not bad either. I love All My Dreams, WOnderful Ass, Empty Room(both unreleased versions), Grand Progression, Crystal Ball, Moonbeam Levels, and whatever else u guys dogged that I've 4gotten to mention.
Don't hurt me, I'm a newb. I'm supposed to be stupid.

Which version of Witness. I heard at least three versions. All with the same lyrics but the arrangements were all different.

Whichever version of it that was on Dream Factory.

All My Dreams is up there with the best Beatles songs, what the hell do some of you smoke, Byron's underwear?

There's Others Here With Us is one of the five single greatest songs Prince will ever write. It is innovative, original, and dangerous. He takes amazing chances with this.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

By the way, what the hell is so "Beatlesque" about "All My Dreams" anyway??...lol... smile

You know which Prince song I think is "Beatleque"??...Starfish & Coffee, from the deceptively "simple" but instantly infectious melody, right down to the song title itself. I could easily hear Paul McCartney singing this back in the 60's, a one-off composition created off a lark in the studio...and decades later Beatles fans using it as an example of how the man was just bursting with pop melodies seemingly at his fingertips.

But "All My Dreams"??...Um, no...

Byron! Listen to the Yellow Submarine soundtrack and Abbey Road, and then listen to All My Dreams. Seamless, my friend, seamless...
