Prince wrote this song due to a bet with Sheena Easton.
She had to come up with a title to a song and Prince had to write lyrics and finally produce a song. Title 'la la la he he he' Double click edit [Edited 2/24/06 15:15pm] "If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it - Now quiet, they're about to announce the lottery numbers!"

I can't remember for sure, but I don't think we knew what the cover of SOTT (the album) would look like when the single was first released. However, I distinctly remember being 17yo in 1987 and walking into a small record store to buy the 12" of this. There were a couple of older people standing around the counter talking about the cover and they asked me whether it was Prince or not... like I would be all "in the know" just because I was buying it. | |
