Prince is not like Mozart. If anyone alive today is like Mozart (personality wise) it's Michael Jackson.

*Both were/are excellent dancers
*Both had/have high tenor single voice
*Both spoke/speake in a gentle tone, unless when directing music, when they became/become loud and energetic.
*Both were/are seen as eccentric.
*Both were/are child-like.
*It might be just a rumour, but I heard Mozart was accused of pedohilia as well.

eek eek eek eek eek

I just assume your post was meant to be ironic and sarcastic...

Besides them both creating incredibly good music there are other similarities:

* Mozart was quite short(I think about P's hight but who knows) and compensated this with wearing extravagant clothing.
* Women were crazy about him and he didn't really mind that wink
* He was very sexual.

I guess there are other similarities, anyone who can come up with some?

I really think that Prince is our Mozart (maybe him reincarnated wink ) and we're blessed to have such an artist on our planet. Ok, that's enough praising for a while... biggrin

Where did you get your Mozart info from? Falco's video for "Rock me Amadeus"? biggrin

And no, Prince is not the Mozart of the 20th century. If I was forced to give that title to someone (though it doesn't make that much sense imo), my vote would go to Gustav Mahler (though "20th century artist" is very discussable for him), Alban Berg and Gyorgy Ligeti.

Actually no. I'm born in Vienna so knowing about Mozart is part of the education. Of course Mozart and Prince were/are from 2 different genres and I didn't mean that they were just a like. I just wanted to point out that there are many similarities and as I think Mozart was the greatest composer of his time (Beethoven wasn't even born when Mozart became big) Prince is the greatest or at least one of the greatest now. 'Cause I think if Mozart had been living today he surely would have been rockstar!

Nice to see someone from Vienna on here! One of my favourite cities!!! wave

Beethoven was born in 1770. Mozart was 14 years old then. What many people consider to be Mozart's "golden period" (the 1780's) was later, so your statement is not quite true. But Beethoven composed his early masterpieces not before Mozart's death in 1791, so there is some truth in it.

The "Mozart rockstar" image is something pursued by the media - not only the Falco video, but also (in parts) the film "Amadeus", because people misinterpret it as a "real" biography. I have high doubts about that. For more info, I strongly recommend the book "Mozart" by Wolfgang Hildesheimer, though that is not completely up to date with latest research results (not to blame him - Hildesheimer died in 1991, the book was published in the 1970's IIRC).

Both are vertebrates.

Neither of them were hiding behind the grassy knoll when Kennedy was shot.

Both of them were poisoned by Rick 'Salieri' James.

On no occasion did the two of them appear in the same room together.

Both of them had a rib removed, a club foot, suffered from Tourettes Syndrome, underwent hip surgery, and communicated by telepathy with Sheena Easton, except for one of them.

Spooky.

Kind of:

Both were more well liked as "dolphins"--ie talented children.
Both have been accused of using "too many notes" in later years.
Mozart pioneered the use of German in opera, Prince pioneered the use of Rebus in lyric writing.
Mozart wore a powdered wig, Prince powders his nose in the ladies room according to Gavin Rossdale

but:

Mozart died at, what, 35?
Mozart was very unhealthy, a heavy drinker.

The comparison is meaningless. Two totally different art forms. Kind of like comparing Michaelangelo's David to a Picasso painting. .

The connection, if any, is in the passion they have for their music and the way they both appear at times to just channel the music from some other plane.
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

BULLSHIT! Mozart never offered a single person baklava, let alone a bagel with cream cheese! mad

All he did was become the inspiration for those tasty chocolate "Mozart Balls" they sell in Austria. Hmm...tasty chocolate balls, eh? Maybe Prince IS the Mozart of our time! eek

Not to forget Mozart-milkdrinks and Mozart-yogurts (yes it's the Mozart year). Mozart's Balls? - I had to vomit when I tried 'em too much...

What? Not sexy? Man, he wore wigs 'n' shit and powdered his nose!

And I guess he wanted to hear drums, too, when making love to his women. And not Ravel's Bolero! But no drumcomputer then, that's what I call irony.

Let's not forget the most important comparison -- Mozart's cut-out buttcheek pantaloons. You think Prince's made a shock on MTV? Shit...you should read about the uproar when Wolfgang exposed his pasty manflesh! The Vienna social scene was in an uproar. "Too many notes...just too many notes...but not nearly enough fabric!"

Prince is Prince! Mozart was Mozart. It's just silly trying to compare people.
