He still has not announced a date for the "Thought Gang" CD... unfortunately. He is also yet to ship the "Eraserhead DVD."

sad

I actually like the "Blue Bob" disc that I bought though... the first couple of songs are a bit shaky, but they get really cool after that... ask Anxiety... he has heard the music!

Good lord, who gives more than two rat turds if he does or not??...

Here's a simple fact: Never did the NPGMC promise "exclusiveness" when referring to the CDs they'd be mailing out to members...they only promised that members would hear the music "first"...yet we toss around the word "exclusive" as if they did...we put it in quotation marks even, as if we're quoting them directly...this is truly an example of passing off our own presumptions and perceptions as "fact"...

And here's a tip for those of you a bit too numb in the brain to figure this out on your own: Before I joined, I wanted to know damn sure whether or not these CDs were gonna be exclusive to members or end up in a retail store later...so ya know what I did??..I wrote the NPGMC..!..lol..I mean, imagine that alien concept, writing to the place you're about to send your $$$ to BEFORE you send it to make sure you know what it is you're getting...and they wrote back, and said they couldn't say whether or not any of the CDs would some day end up in retail stores, that it was up to Prince to decide that...well, without needing every stinkin' thing spoon-fed to me, I reached the conclusion that, yep, Prince was indeed holding out the right for himself to release these club CDs thru alternative means...meaning, I knew AHEAD of time that these CDs might end up in stores...I signed up anyway, cuz I decided that, like Aero put perfectly, months of exclusivity would be worth it to me, being the huge fan I am...(that, plus a sizeable amount of dispoable income..heh)...

If you didn't bother to find out facts beforehand and only went with what you "heard" or "thought" would be true, then just look in the mirror and yell at the stupid mf staring back atcha, cuz he/she is the one you should be pissed at...

And by the way...I read in the L.A. times that if you wanted to priviledge of buying tickets to Dave Matthews' concerts ahead of time like Prince does, you have to pay $30...if you want that same priviledge to buy concert tickets in advance to the Rolling Stones upcoming concert, it cost you $60 to join in that service...no extra CDs, no free entrance into aftershows...no soundcheck admittance, Q&A sessions with Mick Jaggar or chances to play guitar with the Dave's band...just $30 and $60 for the opportunity to buy tickets in advance to their shows...

Still think Prince is charging too much for everything the NPGMC provides??... 8)

Bingo! biggrin
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

This is without question a wonderful and colorful debate of semantics! Many good points have been made, but the real issues boils down to one thing: worth. Are the benefits pertaining to membership worth the $100 fee? I, for one, believe that they are. I will be receiving at least 4 CDs of material BEFORE the mass public. I have been fortunate enough to see NINE Prince concerts in the past 4 months. Most importantly to me, however, is the fact that with my membership, I AM SUPPORTING PRINCE. I am not naive enough to believe that the NPGMC runs a flawless, fluid operation. I understand that the benefits of the club may be misleading, but I am willing to look past the bugs in the system to see what is right about it: I am supporting an artist who for 25 years has produced a vast catalogue of music that has inspired, encouraged, uplifted and nourished me. I am supporting an artist who year after year puts himself on the line of scrutiny and commercial suicide for doing what he feels is right. I am supporting an artist who has entertained and bedazzled me during each of the 18 concerts I have been fortunate enough to attend. I am not going to turn my back on someone who has enriched my life as he has. I will continue to support Prince throughout his amalgam of experiments through the years. He means more to me than some great music. Consequently, I believe that the membership dues of $100 are worth what I view the benefits to be.

Now, I am not going to expect that anyone shares my viewpoint on this. Many of you obviously do not view the worth of membership to be anywhere near $100. This is your right and privilege! However, do not place the blame on Prince if you continue to support something through membership dues that you deem to be not worth it. I can understand your complaints and you are fully justified to believe as you do. However, if it upsets you so much, you are fully capable of cancelling your membership (and perhaps being compensated with a partial refund). To those of you who have not yet joined, I would suggest doing as Wellbeyond did in making yourself familiar with the club and its benefits before choosing to fork over $100.

Maybe you will too, Potsie. For one thing, there are varying degrees of fandom, if you haven't caught on quite yet.

i doubt, however, that your strange obsession with hating prince will allow you to pass by anything that he puts up for sale...just like you can't leave this site..or keep from renewing your npgmc membership...or keep from seeing him in concert...

Shows how little you know. I've already sold my ONA CD for a very impressive profit. I've passed up the chance to see him in concert twice out of the last three times I could have gone & I have no interest in leaving this site at the moment. Not for the sake of chuckleheads like you anyway.

you're really boring at this point...i guess that's a reflection of your life...spending your days trolling at a fan site of a person you don't like must make for a pretty miserable existence...

an hour and a half, eh? lol
good one...all it takes is a quick search of your posts to see the number of posts in any given day and the various times posted...who failed math class now?

and speaking of kindergarten, it appears from your use of words like 'stink nugget' you've been hanging out at the playground to pick up new put downs...i fear for the children if you really are hanging around the playground...

and once again when you have no legitimate, logical response you are forced to resort to name-calling and attempted insults on people's character...trouble is your insults are completely unfounded as i've given you nothing to go on...

as for me being 'hardly fascinating' i'm not the one using the same inflammatory schtick day in and day out for no apparent reason...if you check the recent number of posts by me, compared to the recent number of posts by you, you'll see who is spending the most time here...you did great restraint in waiting 24 hours to reply to this thread..i didn't think you had it in you...

fan-an ardent devotee.
community-a class or group with common interests.

nope..no mention of racists who claim to hate a certain artist and yet continue to support him...hmm...

oh, and if the 'potsie' comment is in reference to my appearance, let me just say i haven't hidden behind a picture of a woman in a bikini (kellyannemcclure) or an attempted 'funny' picture of a guy in tighty whities...so if you think i somehow resemble potsie, well...i'm not hiding...so that says more about you than it does about me...

ah well..have a nice hour and a half...

easy turbo...one could easy say that Prince is beeing greedy by overzelously selling the perks of his club..you gotta remember people plucked down money for this beast...$100 to you and me might not be a lot, but to others it is..... and in some cases it just comes down to principle...the question isnt, "damn, why are you feeling this way"..the guestion should be, "damn, how do we ask the NPGMC to prevent these types of misunderstandings"...

I'm not too terribly surprised to hear this information. Since about 1 week after Prince had the ONA concert in DC, WHUR has periodically played the live version of "Strang Relationship." I was surprised when first I heard it, because I thought someone must have done some bootlegging to get this track to the radio station.

But each time it was played (have not heard it in about 3 weeks, or so) the DJ said it "is the latest release from Prince."

Go figure?

REVEREND!

Ask the NPGMC??..lol...please...why are we putting sooo much responsibility on the npgmc to actually do our thinking for us??...There was no deadline for joining, yet I bet 90% of the club members joined on the very first day of Year 2...why??...Why the hurry to be a member??...Nothing was promised if you joined early...nothing was promised to be sent out February 16th...there was abso-stinkin-lutely no incentive to join on the very first day, or the first week..hell, the first month even...yet I bet almost all of us did, even if they were still being vague with what membership would bring, what goods and services we could expect...So why did we join so early??...Because in all honesty we didn't care, and we couldn't wait..lol...

We didn't care if things weren't spelled out specifically first, we went ahead and joined anyway...then came back and said "Why didn't you tell us all this before asking us to join!!", when what we really should have been saying is "Why the hell did I join before they told us specifically what we'd be getting??"...

We didn't care if joining early didn't get us anything extra or get us anything earlier, we tossed the npgmc our hard earned $$$ with ease right off the bat...then sat around and said "It's been two months already and no CD yet!!...Why are they making us wait!!", when what we really should have been saying is "It's been two months already and nothing's been sent out yet...why the hell did I join so early!!"...

But that will never happen...introspection and self-analysis is NOT the forte of Prince fans...lol...he's just supposed to know what it is we want and provide it for us...we blame his "overzealous hyping" of his club(and isn't "hype", by definition, overzealousness anyway..??..lol)...we fault Prince for--gasp!!--promoting his music club to fans in a way that makes it sound like something special, something they definitely want to be part of...like that never happens in the bidniz world..lol...like those credit card junk mails I always get promising me "Up to $5,000 worth of credit!!", and all I end up getting is $200 worth..lol...I don't bemoan the fact that they didn't make it "clearer" that I probably won't be getting a $5,000 line of credit...to me, "up to" is all they need to tell me, that says it all...and to me, the NPGMC's response of saying "we can't say" to my asking if any of the CDs will end up in retail was all I needed, too...

There aren't any "misunderstandings", only preconcieved notions that aren't being met...and of course what always happens when preconcieved notions are not met by someone??...We blame that "someone" for not meeting them, never ourselves for having them in the first place...the real question we SHOULD be asking in a situation like this, whether we be NPG music club members or Costco club members, is "Damn...how could I have been so stupid??"...
