Moderator | MPLS On the 1-800-NEWFUNK album:
the song MPLS... I remember this album being advertised and being able to order it from 1-800-NEWFUNK when it (the service) first came out. I ordered the Exodus album around this time but never ordered the MPLS. I stillhave the little book that came with my order and it is listed. Does anyone remember this album? There are other things in this little book too like the chain hat from 92 - 93. I'd like to know more about this album. Anyone know anything? THANKS! All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | Also, the album cover in the little book looks like the same drawings like on the Exodus cover but only three characters:
one that looks like Prince in the chain hat, one that looks like Sonny, a DJ behind some turn tables, and a long blond hair female character. [This message was edited Thu Jul 11 20:26:34 PDT 2002 by yamomma] All Rights Reserved. |

i actually ordered it in february '94 along with the npg goldnigga cd. i received godlnigga, but they said mpls was backordered. as far as i know it was never made available. then it showed up for sale at some of the jam of the year shows in '97! i'm not too sure, but mpls seems like an early version of npg -the band. prince was kind of working through ideas for a band i assume: the crayons (remember that from the ryde dyvyne tv special?), mpls, new power generation. Moderator | Thanks fms, I don't recall that album ever being discussed here.
I was working in my studio tonight and put the 1-800-NEWFUNK album in the 'ol stereo. I don't recall listening to this album since I bought it when it first came out and remembered the first cut. Any speculation on what was on it? All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | I remember that cut from the crayons...
"The Ride Divine" I liked it! I wonder what might become of some of these projects... All Rights Reserved. |

it never came out--but most of the music from that era has come out since, on Chaos and Disorder and in the Undertaker video.
What i do is tape right from the video(vcr should be 'hifi'), as my copy has pretty good sound.

A full album was never issued.
Just the 12" and CD single. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
