Prince Hates Billie Jean! *The British tabloids are having a
field day following Prince around town during his stay in the UK. Last week, the papers reported his alleged snub of Paris Hilton, who gave him a shoutout while both were at the same club, only to have him walk out of the venue upon hearing his name coming out of her mouth. This week, witnesses tell The People newspaper that Prince was at Nobu partying with two ladies when the DJ threw on Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” According to reports, the Minneapolis genius “stormed back to his VIP booth and ordered a security man to change the record” before resuming his party with the ladies.

That's some funny shit right there! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Didn't he play a few chords of Billy Jean at one of the ONA soundchecks and then tell everyone what a great song it was?

Never has such a great track been so completely ruined by too much airplay. "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

I doubt that this story is true. They've been playing Michael Jackson music at his 3121 parties and him and Tamar perform Don't Stop Til U Get Enough on her mini tour, and he did cover Billie Jean at a soundcheck in 2002.

This is typical tabloid-embellished bullshit.
A London orger was there at this afterparty and reported on it the next day (I'll try to find the post.) S/he said that Prince did get on the floor to dance for a few songs, but left the floor and went quietly back to his table during a Michael Jackson song. The Orger commented that it was kind of funny that it was an MJ song playing when he stopped dancing, but there was no mention of any storming, and definitely nothing about P "ordering" anyone to change the record. Such an untrue story.
I'm exited that the tabloids are spending space on Prince. That's a good sign!

It was Purplefunkster who posted this: Prince later danced to two funk tracks on the dancefloor with Tamar amongst the other guests (with two security nearby). He did one of those funny gestures where he wipes his forehead with his handkerchief from his suit pocket, looking bemused after doing a funky dance move. Surprisingly, most people in the vicinity didn't seem to notice him (they were probably too drunk on the free alcohol or didn't expect such an occurrence - not everyone knew Prince was actually in that area).
Funnily, when the DJ dropped a MJ track, Prince stopped dancing to be seated back at his table in the corner! I can't remember what track it was, but it was one of the pre-Off the Wall ones. I make a passing remark that he should do the moonwalk, to which he laughed as he headed back to the table. He remained seated in the area behind the table with Tamar for the most part of the rest of the evening.

That is exactly the same thing I thought when I read this. I was thinking...wait no he the orgers said he just stopped dancing and took a break when a MJ song came out. Big deal. I'm sure that means he HATES Michael Jackson right?

haha, ready for some good laughs? Same topic.
http://www.mjnewsonline.c...hp?t=44727 a few random quotes: +++++ "Sounds like Prince is suffering from an inferiority complex," "lmao, what a sad MJ wannabe loser." "Yeah but he used to try and copy Mike. He got an afro coz Mike once had one, he started wearing a fedora coz Mike did. He tried to have the media talk about his eccentricities so he would be compared to Mike even though what was written about Mike was not true. Prince is talented there is no doubt about that, but for him (if true) to get jealous coz Mike was played in the club and demand the song stopped being played, means he is insecure of his own abilities." +++++

Still no orgin of the source has been listed. Even the erweb said "British Tabloids". Having a source come off a MJ website isn't any better

He played Billie Jean during the soundcheck for the Brisbane concert in 2003. A member of the audience got on stage and sung the words. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Yes he did, I made a post about it years ago.... "...The killer of the nite was when Prince stopped playing whatever song he was playing at the time and said: “The next time somebody starts singing, I’m gonna make them sing to this.” Prince was at the keyboard trying to figure out the cords. Prince: “Play the 1+1+1=3 beat.” Then Prince starts playing Billie Jean. After a few bars he stops and says “This is a funky jam, play this with a real band, it’s the jam. Then the NPG launched into Billie Jean and Maceo Killed it!" http://board.okayplayer.c...&mode=full " target="_blank">Link to my full review of the soundcheck http://board.okayplayer.c...&mode=full
