The Black Album

I'm really into this album at the moment. Cindy C & Superfunkycalifragisexy are on constant rotation on my stereo, the whole album is Prince at his experimental best. Hearing people talk about some of the tracks on 3121 reminds me of the stuff on here. Playful, experimental, funny, funky, scary....everything we love about Prince in one record.

I know the whole story behind the black album, but does anyone know of any alternate tracklistings for the record. Ive always felt it was a track too short, and wondered if any other songs from the many many sessions prince was involved in during this period were considered. I heard Make Yo Momma Happy was one that was recorded, but does anyone know if it was a potential inclusion???

I've never heard of any alternative tracklists for this album.

Wasn't the original original version of The Black Album simply a collection of songs compiled for Sheila's birthday party in 1986?

Actually I think only about 3 songs were recorded for her birthday (le grind, Bob george and another), the rest were taken from a few different sessions (Rock Hard coming from the Crystal ball Sessions). Prince probably compiled the album late 87, so I guess I was wondering whether he considered any other songs for inclusion. Wasn't the re-recording of Feel U up done around this time?

Above is correct - The songs for Sheila's birthday were just for fun, not for a specific project.
