When we said that is the official CD cover 4 3121, we meant it

The image u found somewhere is just 4 retail displays when the CD is in stores - posters, lightboxes, countertop stands, that type of thing. U'll be able 2 find it at Tower, Best Buy, places like that.

We can guarantee there is no black border around the image on the cover of the CD and no "PRINCE" over it.

isn't the 'dot' just part of the wall on the picture, what i mean by that is, i suppose its left on because its part of the picture. i know what you're saying though, it detracts from the overall effect of the word 'prince', but maybe prince liked it that way.

Right -- the dot is part of the wall. It's not part of the design, and that's my point. If you're going to reverse PRINCE out of a black field to reveal more of the photo, then be selective about how/where you do it, and be sensitive to areas of the wall that have blemishes, or spend 18 seconds in Photoshop to remove the blemish.

I agree that the photo by itself would be a far better album cover. Does the world need it to say "Prince" to be able to recognize who that guy is on the cover? The black field reminds me of Atlantic Records cassette covers from the late 80s, where they just took the record cover, sized it down, and put a black field where the negative space was created, a la this:
