They don't normally do both at the same time, as it could be a touring manangers nightmare. I will not be going, but I admit that I will be slightly jealous of those who are. I couldn't justify the $30 tag (sorry, I refuse to type out that actual silly ass price) for the one song I know by Tamar, and an undetermined amount of involvement from Prince. I'm sure I'll hear good things from the Mpls folk in attendance, and that'll have to suffice.

PRINCE is A living legend! What are U thinking? No one is guaranteed any certain amount of time/years here. U might just be about to miss the time of Ur life. Surely U can find a mere $30.00 ps. Prince is playing backup on the GUITAR all U have 2 do is borrow $5.00 from each friend or family member

I think I paid $45 to sit through Fonky Baldheads & Millenia ...but was REWARDED at the end by a surprise Prince gig (at the Park West in Chicago.) The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

It was beyond awesome! That was my first Prince concert. The crowd went wild and he did ballad of Dorothy Parker and Housequake. I remember that they sai there was no guarentee that Prince would play but my (then) boyfriend & I had a hunch he would b/c Prince seems to love Chicago, so we took the chance of going and it payed off! Chicago always shows love to Prince & he knows it!! The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. The bad thing was that I wasn't a hardcore fan at the time so I didn't recognize a lot of songs they played and thus, I only remember some of what was played. I wish I could find an audio of that show (but databank doesn't list one...I don't think it exists) or the tracklist for the show... The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. I know I'm not there to see her, and I'm sure Prince knows why we'll be there. Great way to get her exposure. It won't sway me to become a Tamar fan though. " a newborn child knows nothing of destruction, nothing of love & hate"

look, prince and tamar and universal and npgmc all know why people are going to these shows. still and all, prince is getting what he wants: full audiences sitting through a whole show of tamar's singing. this is his way of introducing his new act. he'll be there, sure. you'll get all the prince you want on the stage. but it's about him debuting tamar as a new artist, and that's what you're gonna get. it's a really smart idea, and i'm looking forward to it. he's basically doing what he's been doing at aftershows for the past few years, only with a focus and a purpose.

Exactly. Excellent marketing strategy. If the Tamar and Prince concert makes its way to Detroit, I would definitely go. Why? Because I want to see Prince. Whether he is just off in the corner strumming on his guitar or just singing backing vocals on a few tunes. But you know what, I will also have the opportunity to witness his newest protege, live and in person. That way, I can see for myself what the girl is working with and make the determination as to whether I will buy her album in May. It's one thing to say you don't care for her style of singing or that you don't like BLB, but all these little side digs at Tamar are ridiculous and very telling. [Edited 2/22/06 8:19am]

I'm interested in seeing Tamar actually. Yes, a great big perk Prince is gonna be there but if she's good, it'll be an introduction to a real singer. It's worth the two Monster energy drinks I'll have to do Tuesday.
I really don't get the posts about no one wants to see her. You know upfront it ain't a Prince show so dammit, don't go. And, please, for the love of all that's sacred, don't come on here bitching about how Prince didn't perform enough.
