Prince was rocking long before Wendy and Lisa and he is still rocking today. You all are being sentimental because he ruled during that period and I guess it made you all proud to be Prince fan. That was almost 20 years ago move on!!! Prince has... you seem rather bitter about Wendy and Lisa? whats your issue with them? Lisa plays piano on Power Fantastic...Prince stuck her in another room all by her self..it was at the *peak* of their fighting...and i know *I* can feel lisa's pain within her playing...In All My Dreams? Wendy and Lisa are all over that song... What are you talking about dude!!! Why in the world would I be bitter with Wendy and Lisa. I am sure WnL contributed but man I cannot understand why you guys hang on to that Purple Rain era. The Revolution was a cool band but that was then this is now. Prince moved on from that a long time ago. you might want to do some more homework on the Revolutions involvment in creating Prince's music..Same goes for the first couple NPG bands...there was def. an air of collaboration...even Prince admits that.. I know you ain't saying that All my Dreams sucks. That is classic Prince, granted you're probably listening to "Freaks on this Side" right now, but C'MON!! Seems like you can't keep up with the artistic side of The Revolution, namely Wendy and Lisa. I don't see how people DON'T see what they did for his music, the 3 of them together are untouchable. Yes as a matter of fact I am saying "All My Dreams" sucks. And so does your attempt at sarcasm. I just don't think W&L and the songs they colloborated with Prince on are ALL golden as some of you obviously do. As a matter of fact some of it was quite crappy. If they are so freaking great, why were they dropped from not one but two record labels? Why have they done zilch of note since leaving Prince? Please don't say they worked with Sheryl Crowe and so and so. That was session work with other artists who were already established, big deal. And yes I have all of their solo albums. And quite frankly, the first was the best one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please understand that I'm not just talking about the songs they co-wrote, I'm talking about their INFLUENCE on Prince, and bringing new colors to his music. And you're going to base Wendy and Lisa's talent on album sales alone? Yes they were dropped from two labels for poor album sales but that doesn't say anything about the quality of those albums, in fact, all of their albums were critically acclaimed. So by your theory, someone like Britney or the Backstreet Boys are more talented because of record sales? And they've done zilch since they left Prince?? Let's see, they released 4 amazing albums, had a couple of sold out club tours of Europe, have scored movies ( i.e.Dangerous Minds, Soul Food) and TV shows (Crossing Jordan). And have you not heard Me'Shell's "Bitter" that Lisa played on almost every song??? Or Neil Finn's "One Nil" that Wendy co-wrote like half the songs?? Which I know to you is "no big deal" but to any fellow musician or knowledgeable music listener it's a very big deal. I don't mind criticism of Wendy and Lisa, but Wendy and Lisa flat out ignorance just ain't cool. And like Prince himself said when asked if he listens to Wendy and Lisa's music, "Yes, I follow my sister's career, no one plays color like they do." AMEN!!! | |

Where did I mention album sales? And, I never gave a reason as to why they were dropped from two labels. You did that. And they've done zilch since they left Prince?? Let's see, they released 4 amazing albums, had a couple of sold out club tours of Europe, have scored movies ( i.e.Dangerous Minds, Soul Food) and TV shows (Crossing Jordan).
Yes I know about the two bad movies they scored. The music was as forgettable as the movies they were featured in. And, actually I think they have done the music for three bad TV shows including the one you mentioned. The best was a theme song for "The Crew" (I think that was the name of the show). They toured Europe whoopty doo. And as I said before their first album was the best. The second ("Fruit...")exposes why they needed Prince more than he needed them. The the third "EROICrAp" confirms why they needed Prince more than he needed them. And the fourth was mediocre at best. And have you not heard Me'Shell's "Bitter" that Lisa played on almost every song???
Yes I have Bitter. And, I don't like it. The album is too Sarah McLaughlin-Lilith-Fairish for me. Best song on the album is "Wasted Time". Or Neil Finn's "One Nil" that Wendy co-wrote like half the songs?? Which I know to you is "no big deal" but to any fellow musician or knowledgeable music listener it's a very big deal.
Am I supposed to be impressed she "co-wrote" half the songs on an album I've never heard? I don't like Neil Finn, he has an irritating voice. And what music I've heard from him I do not like. There are other reasons for being dropped from a record label. You threw that out and assumed that's what I was getting at. Everlasting said:

And attended the "Controversy" "1999"(aka Triple Threat), and "Purple Rain" tours. And I just happen to not feed into the idea that everything that they collaborated with Prince on was great. Furthermore, "everything" Prince did in that mid-80's era wasn't a gem either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
