I don't know if this has ever been discussed or if it's just my strange opinion but, I've been thinking that Mani is behind alot of Prince's career decisions. Like playing his old music on the Musicology tour, the whole moving to L.A. thing and the celebrity studded parties. And now, with this new album, he seems to be going a little more mainstream than he has in a long time. I also think that the reason his new protoge Tamar doesn't look like the "typical" Prince protoge is because if he worked with a girl that looked like Mayte or any of the others, she might feel threatened.

Don´t want to speculate or make a "which woman is best for Prince" thread but, even though only Prince himself knows best, my personal opinion is that Mani has been a very positive influence on Prince and his music and his career decisions...people bitch all day about the fact that she is/was just a fan but so were some other partners...at least she knows a lot about his music and she seems to be quite smart and intelligent.And, even though I´ve only spoken with her briefly many years ago, she came across as a genuinely nice person. Not to belittle or criticize the other partners but one thing is for sure , she is MUCH more familiar with Prince´s body of work...I´m just too lazy and too busy to give you examples (negative ones) about the others and I´m out in a few seconds but, to sum it all up, thumbs up for Mani in that respect.

No-I don't think that she has any influence in his career decisions. I mean hell, Prince was a grown ass man before Mani was even born-so how much of his career can she really know about except for what she has heard or seen herself.I think that Prince does just what he and only he wants to do regarding his career .
