Prince and Wendy

Maybe it's just my imagination but has anyone noticed that Prince generally seems to avoid any kind of eye contact or interaction with Wendy onstage? I don't just mean at the Brits but as far back as when they played together on the Tavis Smiley show. Wendy seems to really want to catch his eye sometimes but he doesn't respond. She also looks at him with real fondness which never seems to be reciprocated. Maybe I'm wrong but I've often wondered this.

He seems to be that way with a lot of folks he's worked with in the past. At least he's in contact with Wendy. Where the hell is Levi Seacer, etc., etc... He's not someone who dwells on the past as much as others seem to. Most artists of his output are pretty traumatized people (he was basically poor and homeless as a kid) and that's reflected in their social skills - or lack thereof. At least he's not as bad as Sly Stone.

I noticed he flashed a grin in her direction after they stood toe to toe with their guitars but Wendy had already turned away to go back to stage right.

Well, I will just sit here and wait until you all realise it is all work to Prince and a set needs to be played, cues need to be followed, etc.

Of course there is eyecontact, she needs to follow his cues. What do you expect; blowing handkisses to eachother?

I think the fondness is expressed through them playing together. She would not be there if they hated eachother gutz, or sumthing. Grow up.

Look at this; she's smiling!

falloff yall nitpick at the most trivial shit... just like a group of kids.

Prince won't look at Wendy while she's looking at him...
He kissed Tamar on the cheek. Are they going steady now?...
Black Sweat means Prince has shunned the Jehovah's Witnesses (a.k.a The Cootie Faith on the org playground...)

sad Didn't mean any offence by this topic and I certainly wasn't nitpicking.I've just always been interested in watching the interplay between musicians onstage because I think the body language can speak volumes. Shit some Orgers can be so rude.

First, don't take it all so personal.
Second, if you post, expect reactions.
Third, how is YOUR day going?
As bored as us?

Awww, hug

If you have been here for years you know we don't mean harm. Well, not intentionally.

And that's not Popye, that's just a cast member of Dutch newspaper cartoon Heinz. Heinz is the cat. Just so you know. He rocks.

Here, some Heinz to cheer you up. I am sure Prince smiled at Wendy backstage!

Heinz says;

Come, Fifi. let's go home!

I still didn´t know why the raving about Wendy and Lisa there. Their parts could have been performed by any professional musician.

I think their greatest collaboration was in the songwriting field, not live performance. But anyway, it´s cool that they were there, for the nostalgic atmosphere. wink

So have I -- esp. at the Brits. Despite what some have said, a musical performance by seasoned professionals is not so complex that you can't catch each other's eyes and smile or wink or at least acknowledge each other in a slightly friendly way. Esp. given the historical significance. Anyone who went to the Tamar concerts can attest to that.

I agree. Prince seems to make himself distant to Wendy. She always seems so eager in comparison. She clearly loves the guy and I hate that he isn't more outward about his wanting her around -- besides the fact that he invited her in the first place. It's not like they didn't play in a band together for YEARS.
Come here, babe.. yeah...

First of all; unless you work for the Brits and have ALL the footage of ALL the camera's then you are able to distinguish if they made eye contact at all or not.
You did not have Prince in view all of the time, or Wendy. (interlude, I love the way the Brits did a nice spread of the camera's, allowing to get close ups of all the musicians, unlike SNL)

Second; it doesn't matter. People here love to analyse things to death. Why would it matter that these people were doing their jobs on that stage without the camera seeing certain people smile at eachother?
I mean, I did not see Prince watch Lisa ONCE, but it hasn't got me all worried.

I am just glad they performed together! Might not ever happen again. On the other hand; they might have recorded new stuff together while in London, instead of that aftershow. Now that is something I would fantasize about...
