It's called creating exposure! He wants the world to get to know his newest protege, and her name is Tamar, btw. Wendy didn't seem to care, why the hell do you?

I agree that he should have sang Purple Rain with Wendy, but if she didn't care if he sung it with Tamar, then why do you care? It's all about the song and what it means to his fans .

It would have been slightly more special if he sang it with Wendy, but she still gets to play her intro just like she did back in the day, which was more important than them singing at the same mic, that was enough for me!

I was just pissed that the camera cut away to Joss Stone while Wendy and Prince were playing side by side "I'll be the first one to admit that I am many things, but one thing I am not is ungrateful...thank you..." - Prince

Wendy cannot sing so no surprise here. Il n'y a pas de sentiment plus exaltant que celui d'appartenir à une nation si diverse, si libre et si douée pour le bonheur.

Did he even make eye contact with Wendy or Lisa ? Wendy was probably just scrambling to learn how to play it again...let alone sing it at the same time. I would guess that if you're playing an instrument on the same stage as Prince on live TV, he's probably cool with you to some degree, even if he doesn't take the time to shake your hand in the middle of the performance. Do you think? I would expect with all the rehearsals and concerts between 84 and 86 she would have it almost ingrained in her mind, just like riding a dyke..err, I mean bike. [Edited 2/17/06 21:30pm]

I've decided that the whole Protege concept (Tamar) is good because... in the old days he would give songs to proteges, often leaving the best (or at least most individualistic) material for himself... so maybe now with a protege, that means that his own music will be even better, or unique, and she'll get the more generic stuff, instead of him releasing it on his own albums...

[Edited 2/17/06 21:30pm] Well, I can tell you that I did a lot of stuff a lot of times between 84 and 86 and I don't think I could hop on stage today and be true to form.
