Fury!

They're showing it all!!!

The sound mix is miles better than that radio broadcast which um... nobody heard except for xmRadio subscribers.

They played the whole thing!! Alright!! Good on them.

Is it wrong that i was nervous for him..?

He shouldn't have started with 'Ti Amo', although he performed it well it's not a major performance song. You could sense the "what the fuck?!" in the crowd. But as soon as he hit 'Fury' all was forgotten. Classic Prince from there on in.

That's why we love him - he makes everyone else seem so 'ordinary'. cool

At the Brit Awards, for mainly Brit acts, not a hit single for xxx yrs, but is on prime time TV for near 20mins. And the best act of the night - Love it!!!

Turned off the lights, sat right in front of my widescreen television, had the television output going through to my stereo speakers, and was recording the whole performance straight onto minidisc, and videotape of course.

Massive smile on my face all the way through!

Awesome, awesome, awesome performance. ITV showed the *entire* thing.

And boy, did it sound better than the radio broadcast last night - all those complaining about sound quality, this was perfect, must've been the radio.

Things I absolutely loved:

(1) The cool introduction from UK presenter Chris Evans. All he said was "And now.....Prince." Cool as hell.
(2) Prince did such a tight set. Gone was the Las Vegas feel. No horns, no extended jams. Just tight, tight, tight, numbers - back to the tight pop song style. Maybe limited time worked in his favour here. Unlike the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 concert, there were no Larry Graham-influenced overblown extended-to-death jamming.
(3) Prince - so DAMN cool, SO SO confident - he was incredible, terrific performance. "Fury" was awesome, blew me away. A tight, concise, mindblowing performance from our hero! He just reallly really looked like he was enjoying himself up on that stage tonight, he really did.
(4) Sheila E - damn, she looks *so* beautiful tonight. Seems to get more and more attractive as the years go by. Her look was so different to the Vegas One Night Alone tour, she looked *very* hot playing those drums tonight.
(5) I loved the way Prince surrounded himself with beautiful women on stage. Goodbye JW limitations, I guess. Was that Wendy on keyboards?! Couldn't tell.

Prince kissed Tamar during the performance of Purple Rain.

Oh, hopefully good riddance Larry Graham - Prince is back to being Prince by the looks of this!

Just awesome. Honestly can't get across how terrific this performance was. I'm listening to my Minidisc recording of it again right now, the quality really is 1000 times better than the radio broadcast mp3 last night many have heard.

For all those who haven't seen it yet, you're in for a major treat. If you're in the UK, it's being repeated Saturday afternoon from 15:40.

Repost of my thoughts added to the "pictures" thread:

First of all, Thank you, ITV, for screening the whole set, uncut.

Secondly, OH. MY. GOD!!!!!

Best telly ever!!!!!

Sat with a huge smile on my face for the first two songs (but still don't really like "TAC" - "Fury" is great though), and as soon as he started "Purple Rain" and at one point Wendy walked past him, and later you saw Wendy walk over to Lisa, while Sheila drummed - "the band are back!" I said to myself - I burst into tears. And didn't stop until about five minutes after his set had finished. Here I sit now, still trembling.

Awesome. No other word for it. Awesome.

Pure quality. How could anyone go on stage after that? Prince really did a good job of just showing all those talentless nobodies winning the awards what real musicianship and showmanship looks like. A class act all the way - sounded great, looked great, and made it all look far far too easy.

Just watched the performance, absolutely fantastic. Beyond the obvious, a few things I really liked - Prince looked really happy, I liked how he kissed Tamar on the cheek during Purple Rain like he kissed Wendy in the film, I liked how Wendy floated about behind Prince and kept looking upto Lisa to seemingly check she was okay, and the Tamar dances bent over on their backs playing air guitar while Prince played the end bit to Let's Go Crazy - a nice touch. I actually really like that trio, they really put a lot of effort into their dance moves, I have a vision of Morris Day when they are rehearsing Apollonia 6 except it's Prince in his place and Tamar and the two dances - "I want to see asses wiggling, I want professionalism!"

The "Talentless Nobodies" certainly learned something tonight !!

My DVD recorder didn't fuck up. I'm watching it over and over. I had tears in my eyes - I really did. It was all so perfect.

Tamaar and the twins' dancing reminded me of Cat - they had so much raw energy. No horns - all synths. It was like 1984 again.

Sheila looks better now than she ever has. Wendy looked a little nervous. Couldn't really see Lisa.

I've still got goosebumps.

Man, WTF are you talking about? Larry hasn't played with Prince's band in ages, give the guy a break - the man is funk ROYALTY and a great musician too. No one is to blame for Prince's wacky JW shit in recent years but Prince himself. If you doubt Larry's funk credentials, go listen to some old Sly or GCS records.

eek How lucky am I?! I totally just switched to the Brits show and witnessed P reminding me of the magic I feel when I see him in concert. The man owned that place and everyone in it. Loved the performance

great performance, his guitar work was full of ideas and exciting runs/fills and the whole show was impressive. he was this good 20 years ago, when he was the same age of the current stars and would have blown them away then.

wendy and lisa weren't given the most flattering of camera angles and lighting, and on wendy's one singing close up she gave a flat note i thought. sheila e should have been louder in the mix.

that 20 minutes was a performance of musicianship i havent (or very rarely) seen on a main channel, primetime, in the UK. i felt inspired, and probably many teenagers did as well.

Yeah I felt I couldn't really hear Sheila when she was on percussion. And it is so rare to see performances of that calibre on mainstream TV.
