Yeah, I was gonna mention that too, the BASS was way to prominent.

There's a simple solution to this problem.... if you have a simple wave-editor, like for instance WavePad (free program)

1. open the mp3 in the wave editor program
2. select high-pass filter and set the value to approx. 150 hz
3. select normalize and set the value to 100%
4. save the file or save it to a new file
Voila! Now you have a clean-sounding copy of the performance while keeping just about enough of the lower frequencies.....

btw.... the performance rocked! Can't wait to see the video cool

I liked the live version of Te Amo Corazon... I like the song a little better now. And I'm glad he didn't choose to play Black Sweat. However, and don't hate me for this, I thought the SNL performance of Fury was much tighter than the Brits performance. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the TV broadcast tomorrow!

Umm this won't be a popular opinion, but I could have done without Wendy, Lisa and Sheila. It's nice for nostalgia and all, for anyone who cares and remembers the old bands, but... Prince always always picks great bands and his latest is no exception. He doesn't need the old band members making cameo appearances. As it is, the Brits performance was enjoyable if a little sloppy in places (which I think we can attribute to the presence of old crew).

Thanks, at least I'm not the only one... Give me Renato over Lisa any day (do I get a one week ban from prince.org by sosgemini now??? eek )

From what I've heard, I really liked the performance, the sound quality was crappy, I hope for the TV stuff here. But I haven't heard any significant contribution by the old companions (W-L-S) that the NPG lineup 2002-2004 couldn't have provided... New studio work with them might be interesting, but live they are as necessary as a remastered version of "Newpower Soul" IMHO...

I think i would have rather have heard only two songs, but full songs, "fury" + an oldie, dont like the idea of a medley.

I kind of agree - if you're going to do something as major as a Wendy & Lisa reunion performance, you should really do it in front of an audience that really cares, such as a proper gig for fans somewhere. I bet it was completely lost on the Brits audience.

Clearly W&L and even Shiela are not going to be as tightly rehearsed as Prince's normal band, and even this new band is probably not as tight yet as the old ONA/Musicology NPG. The audio I heard is not great, but the performance does sound a bit sloppy in places, though I think rushing through a medley of 4 songs doesn't help. But the over-all vibe of the performance and the crowd reaction seemed fantastic. Again, just hope they show the whole thing unedited.

You're right. medleys usually end up sounding a little rushed and a little sloppy. they don't really give you a chance to settle into a groove. i would rather he had done 2 full songs.....but hey, I'm happy biggrin <----see

Yes Wendy and Prince playing together is great. But let's not forget there would be no Prince, No Brit awards without.....WENDY AND LISA!!!

Did I tell you they left Cleveland (where they were working with Lebron James) to play the Brit Awards?

Haha.. indeed, we should forgive her wink. I've heard Sheila E missing beats as well (Bob george Dortmund, '88) so i guess it happens to the best of them...

Sheila didn't play on "Bob George"; it was Linn Drum Machine(on tape) which did that "mistake".

Are you sure? I think Sheila was big into sample-triggering back in the day, and i wouldn't be surprised if they either had a linn being triggered from the drums, or have a sample being triggered. Sure there was some automated rhytm part (be it a linn playing a loop or tape) but sheila was also to provide a 'live' part if i remember correctly. One of the things she was to provide was the snare, which shje missed on the first beat wink

I could be wrong though, but it would be a bit strange for a tape to first miss a beat without warbling or distorting, only to catch up perfectly on the next beat wink

BBC NEWS:

James Blunt was pleasant but forgettable, while half-hearted video messages were a poor substitute for the presence of fellow winners Green Day and Arctic Monkeys.

Madonna showed them how to deliver a speech, accepting her international female award by paying tribute to "brilliant British artists" such as Portishead, Pet Shop Boys and Goldfrapp.

She didn't follow this up with a performance, however, leaving the stage to fellow US icon Prince.

Dressed in a white linen suit, his renditions of Purple Rain and Let's Go Crazy were as funky as ever but inexplicable as part of the Brits ceremony, considering Prince's last UK hit arrived six years ago.

he First Picture As the Artist Formerly Known As 'Squiggle' Returns
Feb 15, 06:39 PM

By ALEXA BARACAIA

ALMOST a decade has passed since he last played the Brits - but Prince is back in London and rehearsing for his long-awaited comeback.

The diminutive pop idol turned up at Earls Court 2, the venue for tonight's awards ceremony, to perform during a soundcheck for his starring appearance.

In this exclusive glimpse of Prince on the Brits stage, he wore dark glasses as he played guitar and sang a medley of his best- known songs last night.

Full details of his set tonight are still secret, but the rumour is that he will perform Little Red Corvette and could be joined by either Sheena E or the Pussycat Dolls.

One insider said: "He insisted on playing a string of hits because he wants to keep it top secret what he plans on performing tonight.

Judging by the rehearsals, the real thing is going to be amazing."

Prince last performed at the Brit Awards in 1997 and has not set foot on British soil for nearly four years.

In 1995 - shortly after abandoning his name for a "squiggle" symbol - he made his Brit appearance with the word "slave" daubed across one cheek as a protest against his record label, and would communicate only through members of his entourage.

Although he will undoubtedly be a star of tonight's Brit Awards, he will not be in the running for a prize. Instead, British acts the Kaiser Chiefs, James Blunt and KT Tunstall are tipped to be the names of the night.
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

The thing about getting Wendy and Lisa back - it's kinda underwhelming, the performance of Reflection had more wow factor because it was just the two of them there, this was Prince, and they were in the backing band.

It's great to see them all together again, but I'd prefer to hear the results of a renewed relationship in the STUDIO rather than on the stage, you know?

pretty much all the media outlets over here are going nuts over the performance, but they are all focussing on pr and lgc, i have a feeling that is what will be shown tonite

however, this weekend i believe there is an unedited version of the whole show going out on itv2. so we may have to wait until then for the complete goodness
