In terms of allocation, I was planning to draw up a list in conjunction with Banana C on here and gsh on Housequake.

The planned distribution method was highly technical - Get everyone in a pub, check they were who they said they were , and then give them a ticket wink

Cheers for trying Gav. Glad to see you were building a pub trip in too!

Trust me, I need a drink after today ! biggrin

Where did the 10 Room idea come about from? Was that where you were trying for?

Hey Nana, are you still going to the Brits show? I'm on a corporate table, but I'm not sure where it is located. I find out when I get there.

Where will you be?

Nope - complete false rumour according to the record company. They were looking at venues with 800-1000 capacity.

If it was booked, it was nothing to do with them and may well have been a promotional gag by 10-Rooms owners.

You never know though. One thing I've learned in 25 years of being a Prince fan is that anything can happen at any time and just as easily change at a moments notice.

Do you think its worth going up to 10 room anyway? or is there *Really* no chance? i mean, is it likely he will do a gig even without universal sorting it out for him?

All,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, however after a whole day of absolute pandemonium, Universal Records have decided to cancel the plan for a Prince aftershow gig tonight.

I know many are planning on making the trip regardless, however I have been asked by the record company to clarify that there will be NO AFTERSHOW GIG tonight.

Prince only requested this morning that he wanted to play and unfortunately setting up such an event on such a busy night for the music business was logistically impossible. Ironically the one thing that we did have set up was a generous ticket allocation for Prince fans.

On behalf of Island Records (a division of Universal) I can only apologise for the delays and confusion that has been happening about tonight.

Prince's current plan is to leave the UK in the morning, however one thing I'm sure everyone as Prince fans appreciate - things can change (just not at such short notice wink

Thanks for the info and all your efforts! It's amazing that even after Prince 'went underground', he still has a *huge* following willing to not only stand in the cold, not knowing if anything is actually going to go on, then wait until it's almost time to go to work, for Prince to drop some old skool funk at the crack of dawn!
biggrin

But wasn't the wait worth it - especially when Mayte crowd surfed.....The video may have been pants but it's proof of how damn good the aftershows are. How often can you be less than 2 meters from the man as he jams along?? hopefully not for the last time...

blimely you 2 don't seem to have such a fond memory of the night as i seem to.... maybe time has hazed over the bad side of the night.
we were very very lucky and right at the front, my mate managed to sit ontop of the speakers on the stage for the whole show. anyone remember the name of the other club he played around the time he did the emporium? wasn't it somewhere strange like the Equinox. anyway Happy days. we are all long overdue another.

and thanks to those who helped out with the afterparty search yesterday. Brits pictures look amazing. looking forward to watching the show
