I met George in the 90's. I'm sure he remembers me.Hahahahahhaa!!!

OMG, u did not! wink

And I the answer, I think, is no.

Purple Rain era fans KNOW of Wendy & Lisa because of the movie, but I don't think they are consciously aware of the absence of a professional relationship in subsequent years.

Aha, the other George. Was he nice? Boy George was super nice. I thought he was going to be rude. What a big guy he is.

The really casual people *might* remember Wendy and Lisa from the movie.
I think there are also a lot of fans who bought the Prince LPs back then who don't follow him any longer. But if they happen to see any news or coverage, it will register with them.

Its not going to be the biggest deal, but every bit helps in a situation where its clear Universal and Prince know the stakes are high for 3121. Press releases will mention that Prince has reuinited with some members of The Revolution for the first time. Any syndication from those releases will also mention that part in their story.

Although, nothing would beat hearing them introduced as "Prince and The Revolution!"
But I don't think the nostalgia train stops that far in Princeville any longer.

i think general music lovers know who wendy & lisa are and that they have some kind of solo music career post-prince, though if pressed i'm sure very few people would be able to tell you what they've done post-revolution or what significance they might have had on prince's music.

it'd be like if bowie went on the brits and they made a big to-do about him reuniting with carlos alomar. well....*I'D* be excited....but who other than bowie fans even know who alomar is?

i'd say yes and no...theres a small cult of online fans who are fans of wendy and lisa through Crossing Jordan and Neil Finn...I visit their online communities from time to time and I will see threads posted about them in regards to their solo work...in addition its the kind of thing that music critics and reporters eat up..whenever wendy and lisa do something (ie, Gwen Stefani and Rob Thomas) they are always quick to mention their involvment with prince....

but outside those few and small worlds, "no".

i think the coolest thing he could do is put together an all-girls "VIP band" for the performance, which could be a possibility. Cora and Sheila on drums and percussion, Rhonda on bass, Wendy on rhythm guitar, Lisa on keyboards, and the twins and Tamar doing backup vox.

I think going with an all-girl backing band would be a better gimmick and it would play into his persona, not to mention it's entirely possible.

nix Tamar and the twins and we gotta deal.....if wendy and lisa are involved why soil the best thing about them, their haromonies, with the average vocals of them twins?

Wasn't that his dream-band at one point?
Except J.Blackwell was on drums.

i don't think it's odd. if the broadcast were a performance specifically for prince fans, i'd think it was odd.

Now I hear on radio 1 that he's doing three songs, one of which will be "Purple Rain". And the moral of the story? Stop trying to second guess him and just listen to the bloody show! To be honest, I am just glad he's performing, what he sings or the number of songs is irrelevant. Enjoy all!

I am glad he's going to perform too. You right as a Prince fan we need to remember not to predict Prince's next move.
