I say this is a Prince album 100%. His vocals are all over it.You don't hear the NPG as much as you did on Goldnigga and Exdous.

Plus I don't know why so many prince.org members hate this album so much. I love it. It's sooo Funky.

I agree with u HouseQuaker, theres like one or 2 songs I can't stand, but 4 the most part this was an enjoyable album. And yes it is a Prince cd, probably with a little more NPG input. Around the time 'New Power Soul' was released I recall Prince saying he was not going 2 release anything 4 a while, so that may be why he put NPS out as a NPG cd and it may have been put 2gether quite quickly and not diverse enuff 2 be released as a Prince album. I love this cd esp MAD SEX !!

I agree...to me Newpowersoul is a good album..and I don't see why a lot of prince.orgers hate the album...i love it.

Definetly focused on "Prince". I particularly like this album as well... many have a catchy beat to them, such as Mad Sex, Push It Up, Freaks On This Side, Come On...

Funny... I remember, driving down a secluded dirt road in the middle of the desert (outside Tucson), and it was raining heavily... which some of you may know..., heavy non-stop rain may cause immediate "Flash Flooding". My sister and I were driving from a family member's house... trying to get to the interstate (barely could see in front of us..., water was already beginning to run across the roads... it was a bit intense... (smile). Well I had on this particular album "New Power Soul" (this was several years ago... (wink)), yes, I still play it (definetly)... but...anyways, it was playing while we were trying to make our way... and without realizing it... due to our situation (a bit lost)(smile)...the CD was in between the last song and before Wasted Kisses... (it was extremely quiet), but our thoughts of where the heck we were and how the heck we were going to make it to the interstate (before a flash flood occurred...(wink))... were in complete thought. Well we began to pick up speed and right at the same time that we hit a huge body of water, hitting the car with a loud splat... (scarying us to death... guess what added to our surprise... "The forgotten track (at the time)... Wasted Kisses , suddenly coming on at that very precise moment that we hit the water! We were taken by immediate surprise and are hearts were racing like 1000 mph. We laughed so hard for what seemed like eternity. Damn song... practically gave us a premature HEART ATTACK! Sorry to go off on a tangent..., just thought I would share. I love that song, I love the way he arranged it 100%.

Actually... Now that I think about it... I believe it was the first day I purchased the CD and was listening to it, so I did not know that "Wasted Kisses" even existed. (Smile) What a surprise!

I think The One and Mad Sex are both really strong Prince tracks. Come On is great just because of the cool remixes. I also love the title track. Other songs would be better if he had just produced them better, especially Until You're in my Arms Again and When U Love Somebody. Those two songs would be really great with some better production. Overall, it's not one of his best, but it's certainly enjoyable and I like to play it every so often.

One more thing... The CD cover... is HOT!

It may be an NPG album in name, but I think it ought to be included in a list of all Prince / albums.
