I just got word from Rita George that the annoucements of the Nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be in November/December, the winners will be announced December/January. To be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame you have to be an artist who has changed the music world or touched it deeply. Prince definately qualifies. Prince qualifies to be inducted in Jan. 2003 being that you can only be considered for induction 25 years after your first record was released. That means that Prince will possibly be inducted this year. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award Induction Ceremony is held in New York. I don't if they go on the month and year the first album was released or not. But Prince just may make it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where he certainly deserves to be! VH1 will tape the ceremony and air it. If anyone knows anything else about this let me know. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

This should be a reality. He more than deserves it. I hope he does come back to N.Y. also and maybe they should allow non-industry people to attend this event. Also, I hope he comes back to play. Minneapolis and Canada are just too far-away. I miss him everyday.

If he is passed by on this, it will be a huge slap in the face. I hope the fact that he hasn't had a hit in a while doesn't make him look any less deserving. They've inducted people from the 60's who haven't hit the charts for a long time so I don't think it will be a factor.
A bigger concern is will his disdain for the recording industry slight the people who vote?

I hope he gets it AND I hope he accepts it. I think a lot of critics and industry people r leary of including him in such things because he's known 4 being so unaccessible.

It is about time! Prince deserves to be in the R&R Hall of Fame. He has changed the face of music forever and he never gets the press like a Jacko or Madonna. I hoipe that he gets in. Long live the Prince!!!

I was always stunned that Prince wasn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, considering how many artists with lesser impact on music are, but I didn't realize you couldn't be inducted untill 25 years after your first album.

25 Years from your First Album.they were tripping on Michael Jackson He should have been in there in 96 as a Group Member&as a Solo Artist in 97.Earth,Wind&Fire had to wait until 00 to get in.they should have been in there in 97.they Goof up alot.Prince will get in Easily as will Van Halen but those Shows are More Cooler for the things that Artists Present to them&the Fact they are there as to the Actual Performance.I can't stand there Politics.seeing Paul Schaffer Directing Steely Dan still turns my stomach.it's so Damn Cheesy.Watching Kid Rock on the same stage as Solomon Burke wasn't right.Bobby Womack along with alot of Other Black Artists should Easily be in there.Rick James is 25 Years Deep to Be there&He should be there as well IMHO but the Politics is so much Jive.EWF turned that Mother out with the Original Line-Up.I was SO Hyped that Night.of course 2001 the Infamous Stare down between MJ&Tommy Mottola that I Picked up on little did many know what lay ahead for those two?those Shows are tired&Bland IMHO.

If he is inducted it would be the perfect opportunity for him to make everyone remember who he is and why he's being inducted.

I know I am not alone in knowing how much Prince deserves to be inducted. After reading a few responses, I am a little nervous...mistermaxxx stated a few disconcerting comments. I just hope that they come correct and do what they know they have to! Prince's music has done more than change the music world, it has touched souls and lives that are never again the same.

I had been wondering what the requirement was...I agree that he should be in there.

Of course, he will probably have to wait awhile if Warner Bros. has any influence over the people that vote on this.

Also - does anyone know if he has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame YET???
