Purple Ticket - Be honest! The responses on the original 'Purple Ticket' thread had me cracking up ; it's hilarious to see everyone's reaction to the news that we may get to step into Prince's own little private world. There are some hard bitches in this place!
Anyway - apologies if this has already been discussed - but, be honest, would you rather: ~ see 3121 be the global chart-topping smash that Prince/Universal hope for. I.E. selling bucket-loads, raising P's profile once more and - maybe - regaining the 'credibility' that some sections of the media have denied him in recent years. But... by doing so, you stand less chance to win one of those lovely sparkly purple tickets. The more albums sold, the less chance you have of winning. or ~ would you rather 3121 sold less copies and increased the 'real' fans (subjective, I know) a better chance of winning? or ~ would you rather not win one at all? Perhaps you don't want to come face-to-face with one of your musical heroes and don't want to shatter any illusions you may have. [Edited 2/14/06 5:55am]

you know, if i'm meant to be at a 3121 party or whatever, then i'll surely be there, whether it's via purple ticket or batsignal or telegram from a singing messenger in a purple gorilla costume. of COURSE i'd be excited if i won a ticket, but i feel like i've already had so many amazing experiences and opportunities, so i'll be content with just the music.
and of course, more pizza please.

and of course, more pizza please. God, Prince is really covering all the media bases these days. I'm in two minds about this. I'd love to win a ticket, obviously, but I'd like to see the album go stellar too. I hate to say this but I'd be gutted if someone - who only has the mildest interest in him - won it. But, there again, WHOEVER wins it - there's going to be bitching. God help the winners! They'll need Witness Protection. I hear you, though. I haven't been face-to-face with Prince seducing me with a pizza (that's only something you and his various proteges are used to ) but I'm happy with all the experiences I've had already. At the risk of sounding like a 'fam' , his music has given me unimaginable joy. You can't buy experiences or memories, I guess. So I think I have to agree with you. My memories will be good enough. Just don't tell me if you get one of those pesky things!

Seriously - I mean this - I'll have to swallow every ounce of my pride if a specific mate of mine won a ticket.
He's such a wannabe-music snob. I love him to bits - he's a great guy - but once you know who played the nose-flute on that obscure B-side or made a cup of tea during that recording session, it gets a bit on your nerves. And I'm not even competing! Even when you've acknowledged that he knows a lot of trivia () he still wants to act like he knows more. It can be tiring. Anyway, he has a passing interest in Prince. He always wants to know what he's up to or, at least, borrow his new albums when they're released. I'd love to share my excitement of purple tickets but - if I told him this - he'd be out there snapping them up. I couldn't face all the baloney if he won one. I'll keep my gob shut!
