Prince to Play at Brits - Newspaper confirmed

Brits news in the News of the World

I can confirm that PRINCE has re-formed his band the New Power Generation to perform at the Brits on Wednesday night.
Rumours have been flying around about whether he'll perform or not- and I can reveal he WILL.

Prince is set to sing 3 hits which are being kept under wraps.
Probably because even he hasn't decided yet.

-----

I bet a tour will be announced soon after that!!!!!

Isn't the News of the World one of those newspapers where women give birth to cabbages etc?

Anyway if its true, and I'm sure we all hope it is, please don't anybody make clips of the event available for download on the net for those of us who aren't able to see the show itself. Because that would be wrong, very bad, don't do it.....posting clips on the net I mean, you know at those fileshare sites....though its an act of supreme generosity and you will no doubt go to heaven and be waited on by armies of nubile virgins as a reward for your infinite kindness, it is, by earthly standards, very very naughty....so think very carefully before you act! eek eek eek eek eek

Well, I don't know how he can 'reform' the New Power Generation, since technically it never went away. Also, I don't see how he can be allowed to play 3 songs unless he was the recipient of the life-time achievement award at the end, which certainly I've not heard anything about.

I hope he does perform - but I still think upto now it is in doubt...

I don't think he's going to perform. Look at the way he promoted the recent SNL performance. Surely he wouldn't turn down the opportunity to really promote the album in the UK by doing a "suprise" gig (unless this is the beginning of a string of UK TV spots)...

He seriously ought to perform "Fury". I think it would be more than well-received. As it sounds, though, he will be doing a medley, of sorts. That's unfortunate. And there's no use even trying to predict which of the oldies he'll string together in that medley. Just hope it's a hot performance and that the new track he introduces is "Fury".

The 'Outstanding Contribution to Music' Award, which usually crowns the evening is going to Paul Weller.

Every so often, an occasional award is created (there has been one 'Lifetime Achievement' years ago, as well as other oddities - such as 'Artist of A Generation').

There are also three performances (according to the official website) still to be announced.

This year's nominees and performers: http://brits.co.uk/artists/

Past winners and categories: http://brits.co.uk/shows/winners/

Prince is on the cover of the next Observer Music Monthly.

It states: "Small but still perfectly formed - the return of a pop genius"

biggrin

From my point of view an appearence at the Brits is more than likely!

So we had a great time with Prince and Tamar on Saturday Night Live

Today we are leaving for the UK to play the Grammy Brits! Wendy and
Lisa and my girl Sheila E are going to rock it with us! More to come
when we return.
