As far as I know, it is out of print now, therefore "limited edition", but I don't think that it is that rare, I have a copy too.

For an exact number of printed discs: Sorry, I don't know, but according to HQ, it peaked at 47 in the US album charts (stayed 11 weeks) and at 36 in the UK. I think you might need some discs to get those chart positions.

It's 'special' because it was cancelled just 7 days before it's released date in December 1987, after which it went onto become one of the most bootlegged and famous unreleased albums in popular music.

Maybe 100,000 was jsut the UK pressing then because mine had a peach and black sticker on it saying limited to 100,000 copies

I don't think the sticker said anything about the quantity anywhere, and I highly doubt the UK pressing alone would have been that big. The black album has sold 300,000 copies in the US alone according to uptown, so I'd figure the limited edition could have been around 500,000-600,000 copies. It really wasn't a "limited edition" as such, just a marketing ploy by WB.

Warner Bros had an ad placed in Billboard magazine stating that the Black Album would be issued to retailers in a Limited Release of about 500,000 copies from November 22, 1994 until January 27, 1995, after which, new batches would no longer be issued. Copies continued to be sold until the CDs were gone and are now available only in aftermarket venues. Amazon has them listed through third party online retailers who mostly have used copies unless they still have sealed copies left from the original limited release.
