And then "honor" him by typing in princebonics, wearing really tacky "i bet prince would like this, i made it myself!" outfits, starting really bad "funk" bands that try to look and sound like him, and other gross forms of unintentional mockery?

I think that Prince has a HEARTY laugh at everyone who tries to write like him... I think that he probably laughs especially hard when people try to write Prince-inspired poetry and things like that too... one can only imagine the countless nights that Prince has spent laughing at the "fams" out there... and who wouldn't laugh at them?

Prince is a flesh and blood person like everybody
else. Humans have the same basic needs; to love
and to be loved;
to be accepted(by someone-not by everyone); to be
needed; to have meaning to one's life.
The same things that matter to us matter to him
more or less. His heart breaks like everybody else's.
He is just a peson whose life happens to be a
lot more dramatic and exposed than most of ours.
So yes, he is flattered when people like him, but as
he said at the concert, he has no need to be worshipped.
He rather directed us to a higher power.

Prince obviously likes the idea of "open letters".He wrote an open letter to Madonna in 1999,asking her to help him get control of his master recordings.
