What is Princes' Source of Inspiration

Does anyone have any idea of what is the motivating factor behind Prince? He has always been one of the most focused, hardworking and dedicated artists that I have ever seen. Even prior to his spiritual conversion, he was highly elevated mentally. What books or motivational speakers did he, or does he now read and listen to? I would love to know. I know that Earth Wind & Fire's founder, Maurice White used to (and probably still does) read books by Norman Vincent Peale. He actually got a vision of Earth Wind & Fire while reading one of them. He and the members of Earth Wind & Fire were also heavily involved in meditation and metaphysics. Of course we know that the outcome of this labor showed up in their very positive music. I'm sure Prince has some major influences. Does anyone know? Peace and Love

My thought has always been that highly creative people don't necessarily need "motivation" or a "muse"...that their creativity and "inspiration" simply comes from wanting to create in reality what it is they envision in their minds...with me, the most creative phases and periods I've ever been in weren't spurred by an inspiration, but rather from having a head full of ideas and images that I wanted--hell, that I needed to create and make reality...where they came from, I don't know...but when they were born within my mind, there was no stopping me from taking the "mental" and turning it into the physical...

I imagine someone like Prince, who's about 1,000,000 times more creative than I am, to almost be in that mode 90% of the time...

...um...left off the word "were" in a sentence...damn grammar..

He'd say God. I'd say, he's lost it, whatever it was.

Love, God, and everything else. When you're an artist, you find an inspiration in not one, but many things. It's the rerason why his songs are about different issues.
