I see your point. For me, the music was way too dark and heavy for the cover. It looks like a pinata party album cover (with a lil punk rock flav) Exactly. To me, it doesn't matter whether the original artwork was "good" or "bad." It's that it has absolutely nothing to do with the music. It's a jarring contrast to the album itself. Whereas the black-and-white photography with the cathedral and Prince looking so pale and deathly have everything to do with the concept of the album (Prince is dead) and the dark themes of most of the songs (child abuse, S/M, voyeurism, heartbreak and depression).
