I found a strange version of "We can Funk"

I found a version of "We can Funk" that is 5.55! The sound quality is amazing, but it looks like Prince has some vocal manipulation in the mix and the tempo is slowler than the released version!

I sent this 2 a fellow orger (he know who he B) and he said it included elements of other unreleased tune like Girl 'O' my dreams...

Is this new unreleased stuff?

I wished if the org's permanet outtakes "know-it-all"'s 2 clarify what is the origin of this track.

When I found it, it was labeled was "We can funk (demo)"

There are a number of different versions of the song floating about (my favourites being the '86 versions with the backwards reverb vocal effects - VERY cool). Apparently, the 1986 versions were for a failed movie project that never got off the ground called 'The Dawn' and were also considered for inclusion in a proposed 'Graffiti Bridge' musical in 1987.

What you heard is definitely not new and is the last of a trio of unreleased songs that run together --

Girl O My Dreams
Can't Stop (This Feeling I Got)
We Can Funk

There are a few versions in circulation. The most common are something like

Girl O My Dreams (1:26)
Can't Stop (2:09)
We Can Funk (5:31)

...all from the mid 80s.

Girl O My Dreams was later officially released and completely butchered by T.C. Ellis on his album "True Confessions" (1991)

Can't Stop was re-recorded and rearranged for Graffiti Bridge (the unreleased version is a bit more uptempo and does not include the spoken intro from the released version).

We Can Funk was re-recorded and rearranged with George Clinton on guest vocals for Graffiti Bridge as well.
