Even people who have access to the most hard-to-find stuff say it really doesn't exist and they're not sure when/where the rumor started. It is weird that a bootleg of it has never popped up but that probably doesn't mean anything b/c there does exist a 12" version of "Ballad of Dorothy Parker" that no one has heard either. It was going to be one of the Sign of the Times singles but was nixed for another song. Guess we'll never know.
"Wednesday" is normally referred to as 'There's No Telling What I Might Do' or 'Let Me Tell U What I Might Do' on older (and more recent) boots. It can be found on the circulating 1983 piano sessions, although the studio version has yet to appear.....sadly.

Is there a version with her vocals? Yes, but only in the vault. It's a piano ballad, and Jill sings it at the piano in the empty club just before Prince appears and she hands him Lisa & Wendy's tape. There was originally going to be more made of the potential love interest between the Kid and Jill in the movie, and this was gonna be the point where the Kid really 'notices' her, as he walks into the club to find Jill singing to herself at the piano, he watches from the back and impressed with her talent and waits for her to finish before making his presence known.

"Father's Song" was one of the first songs I learned to play on the piano. I used the sheet music from the Purple Rain songbook.
hat was my question , too. Is there a studio version of Father's song? Yes there is. I can confirm it. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. This probably has come up before, but why do I have to settle for a short version of "Father's Song" cut from the DVD, and a live version from Syracuse? Why wasn't this ever released? It's in the songbook, and it is the theme to the movie as much as Purple Rain is..
I thought it would end up on the 3 CD Hits, but no luck. Such a shame, I've even looked for a John Nelson release of it, but no luck either. Damn that song gives me chills.. ______________________________________________

Now for credibility sake, you have to give more info than that. I'm not saying to post the song somewhere, but give more info...how did you come about hearing it? Things of that nature. EXCUSE ME !!!!!I didn't think MY ??? was different then JudasChrist's,
David's eye, or Origmnd's..The topic was unheard of or unreleased songs... Not just Father's Song or Purple Rain tracks...

There's a big difference between discussing unreleased Prince songs, and asking
where to get bootleg albums.

I'm not saying to post the song somewhere, but give more info...how did you come about hearing it? Things of that nature. FATHER’S SONG was taped in Prince’s home studio on Saturday October 29, 1983. The following week, it was placed on the first acetate of the PURPLE RAIN album (as the last song on side 2). It was worked on again at Sunset Sound on Tuesday February 7, 1984 when it was transferred to tape (along with God and the rough demo of Purple Rain that was used in the movie as Wendy and Lisa’s version of the song). It is a mostly piano based tune with some strings. Although it is claimed to have been written by Prince’s father, evidence suggests that it was a Prince solo composition. BTW, I think Prince’s dad came out with an album called FATHER’S SONG which had a lot of his own personal compositions, none were from his son. they wrote me an email claiming to be one of Prince's engineers who I am familiar with. When I asked them a follow up question, they must have been spooked. probably another member of the org with multiple screennames. Yes I read about his dad's album, but was dissapointed that song wasn't there. How cool would that be if his DAD had recorded a version of "Father's Song?" ______________________________________________
