Fury is furious. It's not news that Prince is a great guitarist, but it's been so long since he actually capitalized on his guitar skills on a TV show that it's nothing short of thrilling to see him pull all the stops without breaking a sweat, black or not.

I like it. It should have been the first single. I hope he does a video for this.

Is Prince missing another great momentum for getting attention to a song and not releasing it in it's wake ...
He has a way with these things...

Maybe he had some "ulterior motive" for performing Fury? Ya gotta admit, the lyrics are pretty pointed...I don't think this song is just something he came up with, I think there's a reason for it, it's directed at someone. But JMHO. In respone to all the responses to my post - you're right, I think he should've done Fury and BS and left out the bland BLandB! "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

Two questions: Do you think "Fury" is automatically the next single? If it is, how much will the lag time between the "SNL" buzz and the release date hurt its commercial prospects? Peace, David As cool a song as it is (assuming the album version isn't too different from the SNL performance) Fury doesn't sound like an a-side single at all to me. A Hendrix-ian funk/rock song doesn't seem like it'd do much on Top 40 nowadays. Maybe the rock charts, but would Universal want to aim a Prince single at the Rock charts? Could be a cool b-side though. Anyway, they'll be repeating the SNL show on 3/25, so it'll have another shot at wowing folks. . [Edited 2/8/06 10:02am] My thoughts are that "Fury" and "Black Sweat" are a return to the Prince that I love. I think they are both A-Side Recors. Rocked out, synthy and sexy with less emphasis on R&B. Prince got famous(and for good reason) for his fusion of rock, electronic, R&B and even a little of New Wave in the 80's. This was a sound that he owned in the recording studio and even more so on the stage. In the 90's he fell into an R&B sound that just wasn't that inspiring. The music was blase' and his presense was non-existent because of it. He had a little stint with success with Musicology. From my perspective I saw an aging 80's icon who had a shit load of decade defining hits that went on a "Final Greatest Hits" tour to support a mediocre record. Then you have "Musicology" that had the first chart success he's seen in years based soley on him giving away the record as part of the ticket price for his "Musicology" tour. The record would have bombed otherwise. The singles Musicolgy and Cinnimon Girl didn't really do that well in the larger scope of things and I pretty much stopped listening to them after a couple weeks and was never blown away by anything those songs offered. Now you have "Fury" and "Black Sweat" that are actually great songs that echo the stylings of his classics. Is this a sign that he's going to actually put out a rock solid record that makes us cream in our pants on first listen? I sure hope so! Minus Te Amo Corozon, I think there is a good chance for him to have a very successfull record on his hands. We shall see...

You're right -- it has the same familiar riff (might I even say "hook"?). My boyfriend - who is not a fan - heard the first notes and said it ressembles 'Boys and girls'. I think I hear what he means... Next to that, to me it sounds like a song with the best hit-potential so far. TAC was the horror, BS was better, but this song is simply the best. I just hope the rawness / in your face-attitude won't be left out when it comes out as a single. The production can't be too sleak. [Edited 2/12/06 5:52am]

Hi I'm new to this site. How can I hear "My Name Is Fury, And I Am Scorned"?
I think Prince writes/releases two basic kinds of music reflecting his duel nature as a Gemini - one is melodic and pleasing to the ear; like Adore; Purple Rain; and Te Amo Corazon AND the other is more abrupt; discordant; dissident and raw; like Shockadelica; Irresistible Bitch; D.M.S.R.; and Black Sweat. I've always loved this "double delivery" of creative possibilities. Which kind of song is FURY. u can b the prizident; i'd rather b the pope;
u can b the side effect; i'd rather b the dope!

FURY fucking rocks hard. My cousin thinks it sounds a bit like Edwin Starr - "Never Met A Girl Like You Before".....the synths kinda do i guess. |

Thanks . . .so take it that Fury was the song performed on SNL?
It was the bomb ! The flaming stage on fire was awesome! Okay has anyone caught the cryptic message 3121 March twenty - one Beautiful loved and Blessed May 2nd said at the end of the SNL performance?
guess it means his new album 3121 will be released March 21st and Beautiful loved and Blessed will be released May 2nd? What do u think it means? AIN'T NO FURRY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED!
is so much like a Jimmy Hendrix song . . . help me out here!? 'm not a Hendrix expert BUT 'd bet my life on it -- Right up to leaving the guitar playing on re-verb as ended the performance and walked off stage!!!!! [Edited 2/12/06 8:52am] u can b the prizident; i'd rather b the pope;
