Prince article from 2004

I recently found this while Googling Prince... an artical from 2004 in the San Francisco Chronical. Probably this has been posted before, but I hadn't seen it and thought maybe others would enjoy it as much as I did.

It pretty much mirrors my take on Prince's career. The author dismisses those that think Prince has been on a decline since SOTT, while also recognizing the greatness of that album. He identifies TRC as a watershed album that marks Prince making peace with his own ego and blames the rock press estblisment for ignoring it. It sees Musicology for what it truly is... a middle-of-the-road Prince album, the true signficance of which being that it marked the return of Prince as showman and entertainer (vis a vie the R&R Hall of Fame performance and the Grammy performance).

Anyway, you can read for yourself, here's the link:

Thanks for that, interesting read.

A very similar sentiment to this 'career review' from an English newspaper. I really like it:

Fantastic career retrospective and review of 'Musicology' from London's dai...
