ONA Live CD HAS 2 BE Released!!! After hearing the 30min soundboard EP from Indiapolis i'm convinced that Prince needs to release the ONA show in FULL 2 the NPGMC.
Can't believe how damn tight the band is!!! I mean...most people already know this - but hey...i'm in Australia - so this is the next best thing. Oh man...i love finding little Prince gems... I sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth

The rumor is that a live CD that combines songs from different shows in the ONA tour is in the works as one of the 4 club CDs.

I've listened to the Chicago bootleg and the show is great. That's just an audiance recording so imagine what a soundboard recording would be like.

After seeing ONA tour stop last month, and owning a bootleg of just about every tour, I am convinced the ONA tour is Prince's best show EVER.
The Rainbow Children songs, the clear sense of vision and intelligence in the messages he's putting out,the tight band, the masterful piano encore, the obscure set-list that the real fan apperciates, the love and religious vibes are mature and worth documenting on cd. Prince is totally in the groove right now between Rainbow Children and this tour.He took the immature attitude drenched past as far as it could go and then some. He's shown that it was right to keep the faith when Chaos and Disorder, Newpower Soul, and Rave tells you he was all washed up. He's gotta keep the thoughtful lyrics and the organic band going-it's the Prince sound fully realized: he's gotta release ONA Tour on cd- it is definitive Prince and more worthy than any other live disc, be it a compilation or old tours. Release it you funky meerkat!

It would be okay if he didn't overdub or edit it ala Days of Wild single. The idea of a tour compilation is not that appealing either.

There are NO overdubs on the Indiapolis EP...just the raw funk of Prince and the band...even though it's only 29 minutes long...it's better than small club, Livesexy and any other soundboard boot u can name!!! THIS BAND IS TIGHT!!! I sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth

The version of 'Other side of the pillow' that appears on the 'One Nite Alone Tour E.P' is something else. 'Strange Relationship' is pure funk and Rhonda pins down the bass. 'Muse 2 the pharoah' is in a slightly different arrangement and is even jazzier and laidback than the album version. Renato's keys really shine on this one. He is easily one of the best keyboard players Prince has ever employed. 'Mellow' stays close to the original, but sounds even better live and 'Xenophobia' is present in full-length and once again Renato's space-age keyboard sounds provide this intense funk/jazz jam with another almost 'techno' dimension.
In my opinion this band is easily Prince's best. They would even scare the '95 line-up and that's saying something. The sound is superb and has whet my anticipation for a full live sounboard album.

Like Prince says: "Rhonda, you're killing me with that bass, you're killing me!"

The ONA Live CD that was being played in the listening sessions at the Celebration didn't appear to have overdubs. If it did, it was very, very subtle. I think most fans would appreciate having the version we heard.
But still, you all know Prince is such a perfectionist that he simply could not live with the idea of knowing that a glaring mistake was going to be released to the masses for all time. For that reason, I think that any "official" live cd that is released from Prince is going to have edits and overdubs. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think not...i have several audience recordings of ONA too...but after hearing the ONA EP that IS a soundboard recording - makes me wanna crush the CD's and feed the funk left-overs 2 my dog!!! A SOUNDBOARD RECORDING IS THE ONLY WAY 2 HEAR HOW DAMN TIGHT THIS BAND IS!!! I sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth

Yes, a full live soundboard CD directly from Prince would really make my day!
...and a DVD/CD release of the Celebration would make my year (at least)!

derek said: But are these releases direct feeds from the soundboard? Of course not. But when was the last time you went to a gig and the music sounded like a soundboard recording by the time it travelled to your ears? No really, an official live "alboom" would definitely be a welcomed idea.
