How do you sell PRINCE to the kids?kids FURY! Could be one way
look at these comments on a INDY Blog. I have deleted the occassional Prince FAn Posted by Freaky Chaser » Stereogum Main February 05, 2006 Prince Brings "Fury" To SNL Last night's Steve Martin intro was priceless, but I was really surprised how much I like this new Prince song, "Fury." Watch below, and if you've got MP3 send our way. Posted by: mode7 at February 5, 2006 02:25 PM Prince is King. Posted by: G at February 5, 2006 02:52 PM Was anyone else disappointed when the real Prince didn't make an appearance on the Prince Show? Couldn't they have had him in the mirror looking back at Fred A. when put on his Wonder Mask or whatever? This bothered me. But yes, good show. This song kicks some serious ass. Posted by: Nicki at February 5, 2006 03:33 PM Quit analyzing and get on the MP3 finding. I'm soooo stoked about this song. Posted by: Joey Headset at February 5, 2006 04:07 PM Prince is one of the great guitar players this side of a dirt nap. Excellent song. Please find the mp3. Posted by: LL Cool F at February 5, 2006 04:17 PM All that time shut inside Paysley Park practicing his guitar has payed off! Posted by: Mat at February 5, 2006 04:20 PM that song OWNS everything death cab has ever done. Posted by: ben at February 5, 2006 04:21 PM wow, that song is fucking sweet. post the MP3 if/when you get it! Posted by: Taylor at February 5, 2006 04:26 PM That song was *excellent*. Had a lot of punch. Posted by: Alex at February 5, 2006 04:28 PM ben, I concur. and seriously, I was fully expecting Prince to be in the Prince Show, and I think the audience was too. Did you hear that explosion of applause they gave when what's-his-name walked out dressed as Prince? And then it died down when they realized it was just an actor. That sucked ass, man. Posted by: alexis at February 5, 2006 04:30 PM Couldn't find the mp3 anywhere... couldn't even find it on any Prince album on Amazon. Hmmm. Posted by: btd at February 5, 2006 04:38 PM damn prince can SHRED Posted by: max at February 5, 2006 04:48 PM that was pretty freakin awesome. always loved prince and this is a sweet throwback sound too. could have been a hit single in several decades Posted by: wes at February 5, 2006 05:06 PM Prince is a badass mothafucka and you all know it. HE MADE THE GUITAR PLAY ITSELF!! Then he walks offstage like a pimp and shows all those whiney emo boys and lame nu-metal posers how to tear it up. Follow that Fred Armisen! And he doesn't even play any of his old songs even though he hasn't been on the show in 25 years. He owns my ass and yours too. Posted by: Evan at February 5, 2006 05:23 PM Why don’t you purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka? Posted by: mike at February 5, 2006 06:47 PM It would have been cute if he made a cameo against his impersonation. I was waiting for that and was disappointed. But boy can he cook on the guitar... Posted by: Adolf at February 5, 2006 07:09 PM prince owns j00 Posted by: joe at February 5, 2006 08:25 PM Anyone notice how much Matt Bellamy stole from Prince?! His whole repetoire and guitar style are like prince reborn Posted by: jason at February 5, 2006 08:32 PM The new album isn't out until March as far as I know. I don't think you'll find an mp3 for a while yet. I almost didn't watch because I was afraid he was going to do that slow, latino-esque single. Phew! Posted by: withahip at February 5, 2006 09:41 PM Noooo! Tease me with the broken MP3 link, why don't you. Posted by: G3K at February 5, 2006 09:58 PM prince rips. Posted by: frankie at February 5, 2006 11:30 PM prince burned the place down. Posted by: matthew at February 6, 2006 12:47 AM DUDE! Stop posting about OLD MUSIC on this site. OLD MUSIC sucks. OLD PEOPLE SUCK. Indie rock! This is an indie rock site! No one wants MAINSTREAMS OLD MUSIC on a site like this. Posted by: classicrocksucks at February 6, 2006 12:57 AM ha. what a moron. Posted by: Tony at February 6, 2006 01:55 AM Prince will make you want to fuck him until your eyes explode inside your head if you dont like this song. Posted by: Ned Hepburn at February 6, 2006 02:32 AM Prince is the Chuck Norris of Rock and Roll. Delivering roundhouse kicks to your ears with his sweet ass guitar. Posted by: fred at February 6, 2006 04:53 AM PRINCE is a KING, is amazing!!..... Posted by: Fabián Precetti at February 6, 2006 06:46 AM I was hoping that Prince would cameo in the Prince skit...but then I realized, hey, this is Prince. He takes himself wayyy too seriously. I don't care though, b/c that man can sure play some mean guitar. Posted by: D Sven at February 6, 2006 09:05 AM classicrocksucks, just because it's indie doesn't mean it's good. Conversely, just because it's old and/or mainstream doesn't mean it's bad. By your logic, Do Rabbits Wonder? by Whirlwind Heat is better than Purple Rain. So fuck off. Posted by: fido at February 6, 2006 09:46 AM I'm most likely the only one who noticed this, but is it just me or does this song have a huge video game music feel to it. Especially in what I guess is the chorus, all I could think about was Flash Man's music from Mega Man 2. Yeah I'm a huge geek. Anyways, the song was quite good, no Purple Rain, but still the highlight of an awful SNL. Posted by: EtcEtcEtc at February 6, 2006 10:38 AM Prince rocks hard. Always has, always will. Posted by: mrbenning at February 6, 2006 11:12 AM Prince rocked it hard. Potbellies in Chicago does have the best sandwiches, most def. Posted by: Dw at February 6, 2006 11:16 AM Oh my God. That is Flash Man. Thanks for pointing that out. Prince's guitar playing is delightfully masturbatory, even if he isn't sporting the Yellow Cloud. Posted by: fido at February 6, 2006 11:20 AM Prince is an amazing guitarist. i haven't heard him play like that since purple rain era. he proved he is still the greatest Posted by: jeff at February 6, 2006 11:37 AM Prince rules, and I was ecstatic to see him finally prove it to those who had forgotten. Great new song, too. Yes, he's a Hendrix fan. Always has been. Posted by: Billy K at February 6, 2006 01:01 PM In regards to the song, I agree with Scott, that song was really likeable. I've never really been a Prince fan but that song has greatness written all over it. There's no denying, Prince is a great showman. There, i'm done with my rant. I bid you farewell. Posted by: Eddie at February 6, 2006 11:46 PM uh, yeah, anyone who doesn't recognize that Prince is one of the most amazing guitar players and all-around musicians ever to walk the earth is too damn stupid to breathe. the song is great, and every "indie" band or whoever should kiss his ring. Now, if someone can provide an mp3 of his performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame induction, I will <3 U 4 EVA! Posted by: solace at February 7, 2006 12:23 PM wasnt so bad- so effin hendrix! i seriously thought that when he laid his guitar down he was going to set it on fire and get on his knees Already a sticky on Fury http://www.prince.org/msg/7/176579 I may have the jelly 4 ur peanut butta but u got 31 hours and 21 minutes left. | |
