Kamasutra is really pretty good.

I think many of you here underrate this album. Sure, it is classical stuff, but the album is really eclectic and full of interesting, bizarre melodies. The kind of stuff he used to be loved for. The music just melts into you.

I thought it was a thread about sex. BrB.

By the way, I hope some of you did READ the Kama Sutra and not only look at the pictures ?

There's a lot to learn there...

You are suffering from Acute Paisley Poisoning. Please do not drink any fluids for the next eight hours or you'll be peeing purple for days.

I haven't listened to it in years, but I've liked it since day one. It's really grand and complex and different.

I really don't see how anyone but Prince can enjoy Kamasutra.

It's simply terrible.

It’s yet another CD that sits on the shelf of 100's of prince CDs ... with the exception that no one in my house wants to listen to it again after hearing it once.

I suppose I could give it to facilities department @ work to use for muzak in the elevator.

It has actually about 3 very good pieces but to be honest the rest is more or less a rushed series of repetitions passed off as a "suite" for his wedding to Mayte.

Kamasutra is as close to classical music as David Hasselhoff is close to Frank Sinatra.

for god's sake, there's not even a rell string instrument on that. it's all Prince playing the string patches on synthesizers. listen to it. it's the same fake string samples on Emancipation.

Did I also mention that there are scissor sound effects on a track called "Cutz"?

I felt like I was listening to a an outtake from the Broadway musical Hair.

There is little, and I mean oh so little, to like about this collection of noise.

It's a sad, sad day to realise that Prince has become elevator music...

Maybe we all need to come to terms with this.

I still can't bring myself to listen to Kamasutra it just sounds like another one of his epic albums inspired by Mayte and her BEAUTY, ETC, ETC.

Yawn, yawn....boring...boring...

I listened to the whole of Emancipation at work last night and it nearly sent me to sleep.

He even looks bored out of his mind on the album cover.....
Shut up already, damn.

You shouldn't care about that.

I wouldn't even say that I don't like it. All I say is: if you see it as an attempt to make "classical music" (= if that is your expectation while listening to it), then it is completely ridiculous from A to Z. If you see it as an attempt to make instrumental pop music (like Mike Oldfield), then it is not that bad.

I just think that it is a record for which the expectation of the listener plays a huge role.

If you accept it as a private recording for personal use that Prince was willing to share with us instead of letting it collect dust in the vault, then it is not that bad.

Agreed. I give BinaryJustin alot of grief for loving NPS, but I've always given him props for standing by his opinion. I feel the same way about this one. Most folks don't like it, but I think there are some cool ideas on it. It is no masterpiece, but it's quite interesting.
