Fuck it, the song sucks period, it's just your average dime-a-dozen simple crap people have been beat to death with by idiots like that Pharrell monkey, those Hip-Pop losers and those R&B (Rap & Bullshit mind you, not the greatness that is Rhythm & Blues) pushed products...
People don't need this dumbed down, watered down simpleness from a professional musician like Prince...
This kind of crap was annoying back in the "High" days and it still is...
Prince should just stop making this crap that's too low for him and let some flavour of the month do it...

Neversin.

And so the yardstick of clarity is maintained.

I always find myself agreeing with your opinions Neversin.

This is the thing - If Prince is this great major talent, (and he is) - why does he keep banging out these tuneless bores that sound like Britney Spears b-sides?

I third that!

I thought the song was OK when I first heard it but I'm liking it less with each.....so I've stopped listening to it biggrin

It IS Prince on autpilot, he can crank this stuff out in his sleep ( and in this case I think he has ). The song is OK for what it is but he's done it all before, and other people have done it all since. I can understand that non-fans might respond with a yawn when they hear him trot out the pseudo-sexy lyrics, the linn drum and the falsetto yet again. I can't stand Howard Sterm but his comment about Prince not moving on is exactly what Joe Public is going to think. Thank God he performed Fury on SNL, he wouldn't be getting all this positive commentary on messageboards and such if he'd done Black sweat, quite the contrary.

Ok, here's the fucking bottom line - The people that call in to radio stations are under 21...the adults may listen to a 95.5 type of format but they wont call. Also, most of the uptempo songs that make it have rap in it. 8 out of 10 is shit, it means nothing. The DJ shouldnt have even gone there, but he did. They should have just played the song and let the audience ghet used to it.

He must be a young DJ if he doesn't appreciate Prince?

Russ Parr or Donnie Simpson (here in DC) would just play it becuase they know it's good and they admire Prince's work and his artistry.

Just offering my two cents....4 what it's worth.

Problem is Prince keeps listening to the wrong fans.

Too many fools keep saying "I want him dirty I want him doing old funk" etc

Maybe he's got it in his head that the majority wont support new musical endeavors.

Look at the shit he got from fans in 2001-2003.

Now I have to wait ANOTHER 1 1/2-2 years to hear something different.

Hey, Ill STILL jerk off to 3121 and the Ultimate set.

I think Prince only listens to two people, himself and his accountant...

The demographics for pop music has always been the youth,.. then you have adult contemporary, all 70's stations, 80's, etc. for everyone else.
Where do you place the new music by the Rolling Stones for example.

It geting really hard to have a 47 year old man to convince the kids listening to their favorite pop station that he's the life o' the party, or wants to get sweaty with you,...without seaming too pervy.

Kids usually like to party with people their own age.

(But Mostly its cause the song isnt that good.)

I'm with you on that. This is my take on it, if the people don't like the song, TOO FUCKING BAD. They can do what I've been doing for a loooong time, turn the station. With all the bullshit they play on the radio, please. I love it but someone else may not but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be played on the radio, specifically Top 40/R&B/Hip-Hop. It deserves airplay and it's not fair at all that they would single Prince out like that. They didn't do it to Madonna why Prince. As far as I'm concerned, the haters are going to hate Prince in 2006 cause he's going to be EVERYWHERE and there won't be a damn thing anyone will be able to do about it.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

the song cranks but what it's lacking for pop radio is a sing-along chorus, LOL. Yes, these kids like to have a sing-along chorus that they can sing in class all day long, like that Ne-Yo guy and his "So Sick of love songs" - they r so used to that shit.

However, Kiss (the song Black Sweat emulates) didn't have a sing-along chorus and was a major hit, but this is 2006 and kids are so fvking brainwashed that they dont know art from a can of paint.

Prince will have to come out with some remix and have Jay Z or Nas (rappers I could actually see Prince using) rapping on it b4 the younguns take it seriously.

I was thinking about that yesterday and I could see Jay-Z doing a remix for the song. It's fine as is but this is the day in which we live in.
