To be a true poser you need something that takes skill. Poser guitar player or skateboarder..can't play geeetar..can't skateboard. To be a hardcore prince fan - buy up all the releases, read uptown, keep in touch with what Prince is doing, go to every show possible..it takes money, not much skill. Maybe some reading skill!

I'm just glad some of these folks are able to experience the music...hell some of them may even become more of a bad ass fan than you, I, whoever. Just because I'm lazy ass mofo that has good taste (I buy up all Prince music I can!!) doesn't make me any better than some sucker that doesn't, IMO. Some of these fols are in transition.

The other jackass discussion would be who is the biggest fan! Someone said that to me while waiting in line to buy tickets...its like WTF!! Get some psychotherapy. Get a life, and worry about your own fuckin ass for a minute fanatic.

Co-sign. I been a Prince fan wayyy before i joined the org.

Exactly. A computer is a major purchase. If my mother had not given me her old computer when she got a new one, I still wouldn't have one. I had a computer for months before I discovered the org and used to check out all the other Prince sites. I had never seen such crazy fanatics in my life. I didn't even know there were Prince fans that crazy that existed. Then I discovered the org and saw that it also had members that weren't ass kissers. I knew it was the place for me.

I been using the internet since 1994 and I was still liking Prince but I was too busy worrying about the updates of my favorite stars on New York Undercover and Homicide: Life on the Street to worry about some Prince. Still I did occasionally follow up him included heard people dogged him about Crystal Ball released back in '98.

So two years ago, people were talking about Prince and Beyonce not to mention his upcoming album Musicology and I want to know what the people reaction about it and before you know it I joined here. And people were vocal about their dislike of Musicology.

Oh yeah there ain't too many ass-kissers on here. But many are on HQ and NPG Club place. evillol

i used AMP mostly in DOS or UNIX so it was just text... and the formating was pretty much like it is now.

and i THINK the ORG goes back to about that time as well. i know there were a few sights back then. i reemebr thedawn.com and 1800newfunk.com both official. and i am almost sure .org started in the 95 to 96 time frame. I used mosic and netscape 1 in the mid 90s... wow memories...

Yeah memories...I remember there were other good Prince sites that I browsed back in the late 90s and early 00s but after the lawsuit threats many sites disappeared. I forgot the name of some but they were good and popular. One even was very detailed and had all the Prince associated artists links.

Peace Love and Welcome to All --- I believe that:

Prince is about welcoming the world to join together in love and peace and music and dance

Prince deeply respects his long-time, tried & true FAMS

Prince opens his heart to new music-lovers too - planting a seed to a new generation through his lyrics, his guitar playing, his band, etc.

Steve Hammer's site and the Prince Family bring back some memories! Once the lawsuits, the Prince family shut down completely and soon after Prince.org opened its doors. Thanks to the org!

I don't think you will find many "posers" at the org. If you're geekish enough to sign up for an org account, then in my book you're a real fan regardless of age or knowledge etc.

On the other hand, you will find "posers" in the general public and at concerts especially. I was talking to a guy the other day who claimed he loved Prince; his favorite songs were "When Doves Cry" and the cover he did of "Kiss" (you know, the Tom Jones song lol). I was like mad.

Ah come one. Not everybody knows EVERYTHING straight away and WE are all entitled to be naive.

Crikey. At least he wasn't dissing Prince.

I also think that possibly some people think that it gonna be too late to get into Prince now.

It's intimidating just thinking about his back catalogue. If you weren't there at the time you can feel like you missed out.

Especially if you come on the Org and there's a wealth of information that you guys know.

-----

That being said I do get annoyed when an orger says they prefer "My Name Is Prince" over When Doves Cry".

...Or they don't get "LoveSexy"...Or they even have to question the merits of "Controversy" and "Dirty Mind".....but enough of my warbling.....

.....And I'm not going to go on about ALL you people out there dissing "With You".....

mad

I like "My Name Is Prince more than "When Doves Cry"

And I didn't get Lovesexy at all.

"Um..yeah. Prince is a weirdo." That's my typical conversation with a non-fan. But it's gonna be all kinds of people on his dick soon, but we know who the real fans are.
