Fred post on NPGMC about meeting Prince on SNL Fred posts there under the name of "Wembley". Here is he's post:
Hello! This is Fred from SNL. I tried to post earlier today and it didn't come up, so apologies if this is a repeat. I just wanted to share my experience from this week. I was so psyched that Prince was the musical guest as was the whole cast. Watching him do his sound check and rehearsal up close was unbelieveable. That band is amazing. I approached him and told him how great I think he is and he was super kind. He made me feel like it was okay that I do an impression of him. I couldn't believe I was standing there talking to him. I have wanted to meet him since forever (who am I talking to? YOU know what I mean!). He is charismatic in person. It's pretty powerful. I don't think it's just because I am such a huge fan. After he left, his guitars (the blue Strat and that Telecaster) were left on stage on stands. I just stood there about a foot away staring at them for ages. THOSE are the ones he plays!!! Right there! Everyone in his group (musicians, singers, crew, assistants) were really sweet. Very positive and happy to be at the show. I even got to meet the NPGMC site people! I always wondered what they looked like. They were super cool too and I bombarded them with questions about the site. In case anyone is wondering about him appearing on the "Prince Show" sketch...
We did ask him early on, and the answer was that he wanted to focus on the musical performance. His people were nice about it and they had no problem with us doing it. We wrote a version that didn't have him in it and a version where he made an appearance, just in case. When I saw him rehearsing with his band, I realized "oh yeah, he's a musician and wants to give the best possible performance!" Why would he want to focus on something else? I understood and was happy just to be in the same room with him. Fred

I'm so happy for Fred that he finally got the opportunity to meet Prince, and to talk with him, and observe all that he did and just experience Prince closeup like that.
Fred seems like a very humble, genuine guy, and it's cool of him to write that post. I could relate to a lot of what he said, about seeing Prince and the instruments and stuff right there in front of you, as I felt that way a few times in my life, too when I finally saw Prince perform live. It's nice to know celebrities feel the same way as us 'regular' people, when they finally meet an idol.

Fred's a cool guy - a fellow music geek, a former Chicagoan and a Second City alum!

YEAAAAA Fred!!!
As I was watching the show I couldn't help but think what a RIOT it must have been for him. He's a class act! I'm firmly planted in denial

Someone should invite him to one of the Org invasions.

It's not surprising that he'd appreciate a true artist like Prince. Of all the cast members, he does the most surreal, weird, artsy stuff. Check this song out at:

I am tickled for Fred! I bet he was positively floating after the show.
Hopefully he will stick his head in once in a while and say Hey. Fred, on npgmc, its best to not make direct eye contact with anyone who has over 10,000 posts. Love wins. (Seen on bumpersticker)

Fred's reaction to meeting P is just like every true fans would be.
I would have liked to see Fred's latin drummer character (don't remember the name), the one who does the bad jokes with his own rim shot, be the drummer for a Te Amo Corazon number.

I had spoken to that Wembley, or I think I did, before at npgmc.
I know Fred isn't a big star or nothing like that. But he is on one of my favorte television shows. It's funny how he would just be there all that time. Makes you kinda wonder who else is watching. Pardon me while I walk over to the magic mirror. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

That made me misty. I love Fred now. Not that I didn't dig him as Tino in Anchorman. But now I love him.

That is sooo sweet! It does look like their eyes met. This version of the prince show must have been really special to him. He seemed to channel Prince more than ever. I was quite suprised. Shake....shake, shake, shake.
