Wait a minute, did I just hear someone say that Tamar wrote "Beautiful, Loved & Blessed," with no Prince involvement? (or minor Prince involvement, even)
That would be damn impressive to me, and I'm already impressed with her. Hey, hey, hey...wake up it's a new day... No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I'm hoping she's successful because I'm tired of the same old talentless pop stars. But those twins have got to go. They're distracting and from what I could gather can't sing very well (but they can dance). They also seem eager for the spotlight. They are definitely twins (I got to see them up close) - they have a striking resemblance to Bratz dolls.
I feel the same way. I am going to buy her album too because BLB is the type of song that I like. She has an amazing voice and not another Prince trick who just have the look but no talented. I think that any hardcore new-soul or modern R&B lover is going to dig this sista.

I love her voice This performance showcases her voice better than the studio track I totally agree. A few have the power and the soul; she also seems to have a bit of an edge. Listen to the way she punctuates the song with funk on the “hey, hey, hey” section. That’s the point where I sat up in my chair, feeling as though I was hearing some great singer throw down on some classic that I had somehow missed. It’s quite refreshing to see Prince working with young, promising talent. I always thought that would be where he spent part of his time in the last 25 years of his career. But I sometimes had my doubts. This is, after all, the same guy that once created an album with Carmen Electra.

If Prince isn't seeing Tamar after midnight I'm going to revoke his pimp card. That said, this fine honey does seem to have some talent. Why don't you guys give her a chance before you shoot her down. I know one thing, the women is FINE but when hasn't Prince been around fine women?

Oh come on now. Sheila, Wendy nor Lisa can sing like this girl. People, stop hating on Tamar, she actually has talent. If you don't think so you need to go re-watch the SNL performance because she can sing. Don't get me wrong Sheila W&L are pretty damn good musicians at their own right but Tamar wins in the voice department imho. I don't even know why some people are comparing her to them in the first damn place because Tamar is a different league from the girls. It just like comparing Lisa Coleman to Nona Gaye

I have never seen her perform live so I cannot use that as a gauge of her talent. Her music doesn't seem to make the listener feel anything and that's a big key as to whether an artist is successful. Prince affiliated or not. .
What do you mean she has no talent? What is your definition of talent? That girl has an incredible voice and if you claim she has no talent then who does? It's one thing to say you don't like her music but to say she has no talent is just insane.

They do this at every turn. They hated the first single. He had fallen off. Larry Graham was the devil. Rainbow children was bs. If he aint in purple rain mode w/ W & L something is foul. Now hes boning Tamar (which if he is I understand) but the fair weather haterade is flowing as usual. He rocked their socks off so w/ her so they couldnt cry for guitar. her style of singing really isn't my thing, but i can appreciate that she's good at it, and yay for prince for molding a new protegee that's more about talent than about t&a. who knows, if her career takes off, he might actually be able to develop a stable of other acts with more maturity and promise than back in the paisley park days (though i still love my jill jones album, don't get me wrong).

I tivoed the SNL show and I just watched it. I must admit that from some of the responces that I was reading on this board I wasn't expecting much. They tore that shit up. I can't believe that people on on here saying that she can't sing. Thats just silly. That girl is as good if not better than anything that you hear on the radio today vocally. And Prince just rocked the house. I can't wait for both of these CD's to come out.

Thank you. I was at Nokia on Thursday too and they definitely cannot sing and don't even look that cute, from what I could see. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
