Exactly. Last night was the first time I have watched "Saturday Night Live" in years. The skits were boring as hell. I'm surprised they are still on the air. Andy is a four letter word.

If this is what the new album is gonna sound like then it will definitely be better than 'Musicology'. The second song I thought was just okay. I enjoyed Tamar more at the live show on Thursday.
I thought the skits for the most part were not funny. It reminded me why I never watch SNL. I was feeling sorry for Steve Martin! He's normally hilarious and even he couldn't salvage that mess. Ugh!!

The lady doing Drew Barrymore was spot on too, she was cracking me up. LOL! She sounded JUST like Drew's dingy ass! "Free yo mind and yo ass will follow" - George Clinton

I was at Thrusday's show in NYC and it is always better to see him live, but last night was just "mehhh". Fury...yeah it could grow on you. Yeah the guitar solos were good, but it was not a particularly interesting performance. BLB was all right. nothing special. And the lack of a cameo during Prince show was just such a wasted oppty. Not to mention that the rest of the SNL show as one of hte worst i've seen and probably the show should be cancelled. Yes it's exciting to see P on television, but I find it surprising people on here are like "Wow that was so great!" etc. In relative terms, for Prince, it was pretty average EDITED TO ADD: Actually, the best part of the ENTIRE SHOW, meaning the whole thing, skits included, was Prince's faces and reaction at the end when they realized the camera was live. He clearly has a GREAT sense of humour, just by those 3 seconds, so the fact they didn't use him in the skit is all the more sad. [Edited 2/5/06 12:40pm] Thank you Thank you THANK YOU GARYMF for that post... I am So glad to see that SOME ONE felt as I did!!! I can't believe how excited everyone got over this.. They had some great chances to high light Princes sence of Humor last night. I was thinking.. Even when Steve Martin Dragged Alex. B. down the Hall.. couldn't Prince of been standing there with a guitar and have one of his CLASSIC Prince looks as they went by. How easy would that of been for Him to do?? I didn't think Prince would do a ton of skits like Steve did.. but I think it would not of killed him to do at least ONE.. You are also correct.. that SNL show has run its course over and over and over again!! I think "The Prince Show" is old.. I mean Beyonce and Prince.. that was 2 years ago! Give it up.. Might of been funny once..... All in all I KNOW Prince can do MUCH better and I know when he wants to really get funky he can be as exciting as he was in the 80's or WHEN EVER I hope IF he is on anything else he puts a bit more "gusto" into it and blows us ALL away!

"Fury" is one of those Prince songs that grow on me with each listen. "Black Sweat" caught my ear immediately. Actually, when I heard it for the first time last night, I was pissed while I was listening to it because he wasn't performing "Black Sweat" as the first song and I was expecting the second song to be that dull first single. The thoughts going through my mind at the time were "I stayed home to watch 'Black Sweat' and now he's going to do that dull first single next. My night has been wasted, I should have gone out". I stuck around just in case and was even more pissed later when the second song was with his new protegee which I found extremly dull and turned off the TV and VCR in the middle of the performance. I've rewound the tape this morning and listened to "Fury" some more now that the anger is gone. It's a "grower" song. Me too. I was kinda upset he didn't performed Black Sweat but then I calm down a bit when he performed blb. My fav moment when Prince and Tamar hugged. And when I rewatched Fury again today and after some more listening I am liking the song. Prince that I came to know is back and he better stay!!!

Thank goodness I didnt see SNL skits as I watched Prince's performance via net. When "Prince" (Fred") was standing before his Mirror of Reflection, I really thought they were going to do like what they'd done with Jimmy Fallon and Mick Jagger that time, and have the real Prince on the other side of the mirror, playing Prince/Fred's reflection. That would've been great.
Yeah,,,whats up with that??? what a wasted oportunity for a cameo....DAM! all in all i loved BOTH songs,,,really up-beat

The skits sucked.I expected better from Steve Martin. Prince first performance rocked. He had his bad ass look. The orange suit with the black scarf wraped on his head. That's his cool rock star look. I really did not care for the whole backup dancers thing. It was a change though...& it made the peformance hot. The laying the guitar on the stage & then his smile was just too cool. The second performance with Tamar was good. That was the first time i seen or heard her. It was nice that he shared the stage with her. Overall Prince still wears the crown.

i loved the performance of "fury"...made me look forward to a tour...but i wasnt cool with tamar having her own song at the end...prince was the guest, not her...i think he should have performed something like "black sweat" and worked in a solo for her, then give her props to get her name out there...i was not impressed with her to be honest, her vocal ability...but certainly, "fury" was the highlight of snl for at least the year...snl is just not funny anymore...i only laughed at the superbowl skit and the prince skit...u couldnt ask for a better host than steve martin but the show has gone so downhill over the past few seasons...they need to fire most of the writers...the producers should have offered prince the chance to write some the skits...lol

Nothing. I was making 2 points (well actualy 3): 1. The musical performances were IMO just OK. nothing special. (bear in mind this relative to Prince....compared to any toher artist that performs on SNL it was a 10!) 2. The fact that they didn't use Prince in the "Prince Show" skit was a HUGE missed optty.... not just because of Fred's talent, but beause Prince has shown he can be brilliant doing comedy himself (certain scenes in UTCM, Cloreen Baconskin etc.) See my added comment above about his expression at the end. 3. SNL in general has reached a new low. I actually watch fairly often and this was a new low point for them.

I can't imagine them NOT asking P to be in the "Prince Show" skit. My theory is, P turned them down when they asked him, because I refuse to believe that the SNL big-wigs are that incompetent.
My next question is...Did anyone ask for a remake of "The Pink Panther"? Talk about your soon-to-be-FLOPS! "Free yo mind and yo ass will follow" - George Clinton

One of the most INTERESTING points for me was at the end when Prince was standing RIGHT NEXT TO Alec Baldwin.
They looked so uncomfortable next to each other!!! They didn't even look at each other while the camera was on! I can't believe they put them right NEXT TO each other considering the whole Kim Basinger thing.....guess they've outgrown it though, since it's been so long. it was still weird though!!!! i just watched "Fury" again -- first time since last night
it's just totally incredible -- MUST be a dream but no, it really did happen, didn't it? just amazing, truly amazing and i loved how he imitated himself at the end throw down the mic-stand and run (he had to smile at himself) i was thinking Prince would've shown up somewhere in the skits and that maybe they'd do a flashback to his first SNL performance but i'm definitely not disappointed "Fury" made my night it's almost as amazing as his solo during 2004's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" since when has Prince been playing guitar THIS good?? damn!! oh, and i loved the hendrix-style vox too very cool man, there was kick-ass guitar all over that song!! what more can we ask for? what more will he give? 3121, don't ya wanna come? oh yeah [Edited 2/5/06 14:28pm]
