let me see.Chaka Khan's "I Feel for You" was better&added a whole different element to the song IMHO.Mitch Ryder's Version of "When you were Mine" which John Cougar Mellencamp Produced I like the Musical Arrangements better.Tevin Campbell"Shhh" only mainly because the Lyrics were written with a Teenage Kid in Mind&the line about doing you like some Homework doesn't sound like Prince to me at all not even when he was just starting out He never sounded like a Kiddie type Artist IMHO.Catchy stuff but not Kiddie.Sinead on Feeling,Music&Video She has the Edge.Vocals I give St.Paul.the music on the Family's one wasn't too smooth IMHO.Prince got Claire Fischer happy to me but I can't Blame Him all the way Claire is bad.Jordan Knight in Hindsight has a interesting take on "I Could Never take the place of your Man".stephanie Mills does a Good How Come U Don't Call Me anymore" bu I still give Prince the Nod.Blial does a Decent Cover of it as well IMHO.overall with the exception of those Songs I mentioned I'll take Prince's Versions of His Own Stuff.as for Him doing other People's Songs? nothing really stands out to me.

Most of these covers of P songs are CRIMES. The only decent ones are:

Sinead's "Nothing Compares 2 U"

Chaka's "I Feel For You"

Tevin's "Shhh"

Stephanie Mill's "HCUDCMA"

None of these are better than P's versions, but they're pretty good (actually, that's a lie - Chaka's is better).



As far as P covering other songs, I dig them for the most part. I like his "I Can't Make You Love Me" better than Bonnie's, his "One of Us" better than Joan's.

BUT Sheryl Crow did a better "Everyday Is a Winding Road" & J5 (yea, I said it - the Jackson 5!) did a better "La, La, La Means I Love You."
