back to the subject i saw the advert for the grammys and the Stone tribute and wondered why no prince... since as far as exposure it was prince that used most of the members of stone band in his rave into the year 2000 review.

did he piss them off?? LOL

Sly's last project was horribly produced by him -- he just ain't the same anymore. Sad, sad story right there. What an awesome talent. What a waste. Don't get me wrong... I'd LOVE to see him return if he could write & perform 'em half as good as he did before. That would be a major comeback.

Actually, I could picture Jesse Johnson and Prince both singing and playing guitar on this at the same time. That would be surreal. The two probably haven't talked to each other in years though.

Sly just "performed" on the Grammys. That was probably the saddest thing I have ever seen on TV. Where was Larry Graham?

I don't know WHY LARRY wasn't there. Prince Coulda Really made it Special. Seems like they just wanted EVERYONE to SEE that SLY is ILL. Was it a Jehovah's Thing NOT to be around SLY? It is Pretty SAD to hold GRUDGES... sad

Believe me, this was worse than the Superbowl.

After being excited to see Sly on the Grammy's I am really disappointed, he looked like a hunch back dragon.
I know thats rude of me, but he wasn't what I expected and he looked really sick and old.

He scared me! eek

I saw Sly and I have to say "That was some bull****."

It was great to see Nile Rodgers on guitar.

Joss Stone was singing in her own personal key.

Let's change the name of this post to: Post Here If You WANNA SEE PRINCE PERFORM INStead OF SLY STONE. It almost makes you WANT to see Larry Graham.

What a tragic piece of history. Sly is a musical revolutionary. Because of him Prince, The Red Hot Chile Peppers and any other artist that combine funk with rock exist. The psychedelic funk of George Clinton, Miles Davis Bitches Brew period, the mid 70's Motown were all following Sly's script.

What a tragedy. Drugs have devastated so many artists. Maybe this explains Larry Graham's JW crutch and cult leanings.

That's it??? After 19 years, that's the best he can do? He played a few notes, and left. That's it?????!?!?!? What a punk! Good thing Jesse had a chance to work with Sly during one of his rare sober moments. It may never happen again.

Oh My Lord. Sly Stone looked like one of the Plasmatics! (For those of you too young to remember, The Plasmatics were a Mohawk wearing Punk-Rock band from the early 80's). It would've been better for him to not have performed at all. This is NOT the way i'd like to remember Sly. With that silly looking blond mohawk. And NO Prince should not perform with Sly if this is all he has left.

Sly has been "lost" since the early 70's. If you listen close to that Jesse Johnson single there is very little Sly input. I just wonder what kind of influence Sly had on Jesse's spiral into drugs. Probably a co-enabler thing. What a waste of genius (Sly).
