Tamar is Toni Braxton's sister, right? I've read this from a review of her previous album on Amazon, but I don't recall anyone mentioning it on the org. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

Rhondab said: Snap said: Without getting into a debate about doctrine and whether it should be preached through contemporary music, let me just try to clarify my point (in response to some replies): "Take this bitter cup from me" had nothing to do with relationship of any type but ALL to do with the need (and love) of Jesus to continue through with what He came to do. When Jesus asked the Father, "if there be any way, take this bitter cup from me" -- there was no other way... only ONE way -- for Jesus, who never sinned, to die as a sacrifice to pay the wages of ALL sin for ALL mankind. I don't see Prince using this phrase correctly in the song. That's my only beef with it. Those words are full of spiritual meaning, and yet the meaning in the song is reduced to a "daughter" asking her father (Jehovah) to be happy. Where'd the need for salvation go? That's ultimately what Jesus is about -- He didn't come to make us happy, even spiritually happy, because we'd still end up in the same place without His sacrifice, the bitter cup He drank for us. You think to much. Every man cries out, "save me", "help me", "take this thorn from me"..... Its not as deep as you're making it to be. Prince wasn't even trying to preach any doctrine. Bitter cup..."please take the pain away" "please let the hurt stop".....its about the human condition. A constant battle 2 stay ahead of the game Is anybody famous when everybody wants fame? Always trying 2 break U down Thinkin' that'll raise 'em up I just wanna b happy Come take this bitter cup from me so all of us will be HAPPY dancin' and feelin' good about this song and you sit in the corner analyzin'.... Very good Rhonda.... He also spoke of the Blood shed on Calvary....now THAT speaks to his former self...which is refreshing and truthful..making the song even more important to say "I'm Beautiful..Loved & Blessed...because the potters hand shaped me..." Considering today's condition of music...its something uplifting...positive...more power 2 the brotha... June 19's Pop Culture Commentary - Beyonce'

I am start to love the song and it is very uplifting and that is the type of R&B song I like. Almost anyone who was into R&B of the 90s going to enjoy this song as people are complaining the state of R&B.
Also I went to other forums and they was talking about Saturday Night Live performance with loving Fury and many liked the song which suprised me since her song got mixed reviews on here and HQ. But anyway I know Tamar is going to do well.

Hey, hey, hey Wake up it's a new day Hey, hey, hey Wave Ur hands in the air and say Hey, hey, hey Wake up it's a new day Hey, hey, hey Wave Ur hands in the air and say Beautiful, loved and blessed Yes this is my fave part too, and the guitar/funky (Thank You Falletinme Be Mice Elf Agin sample?) at the end. I think it is a nice song--it doesn't excite me like Black Sweat or even Fury, but I definitely like it better than Te Amo Corazon. Also, I like the studio version I've heard at Nokia and elsewhere better than the live version on SNL. I don't generally like to play the "oh it sounds like..." game, but it does remind me of India.Arie's first album... I'm glad it will be on Tamar's album instead of 3121 b/c hopefully that will leave more room for funk. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Wow! I love both songs he played on SNL!
I can't wait to hear "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" on CD, where everything will clear and Prince's microphone won't be so low as on SNL. Has nice rhythm, finga-snapping vibe and lyrics that are saying something positive - though I couldn't make out everything. Big thumbs up here for BL&B.

Moderator | I've listend to this one a few dozen times now. I REALLY DIG THIS ONE. More so than black sweat. The video for Black Sweat gave that song a whole different personality though and liked the song a whole lot better after watching it.
But Beautiful, Loved and Blessed is just awesome to me. Just puts a grin on my face. Very uplifting groove and lyrics. Tamar sounds sweet, The little guitar solo took me way back with a familiar feeling of the guitar solo on "My Love Is Forever" from his first album. Not sure why ... Still left me wanting to hear the rest of the song though. I know there has to be a longer version of this. This one reminds me of material like he did with Nona Gaye such as "Snowman" and "1000 Hugs and Kisses" which are some of my personal favorite colaborations. GREAT TUNE, I love it. Be thankful that this little gem is actually going to get released. I hate to say it, but if this was another leaked vault track like the nona tracks, everyone would be praising it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the performance of this song on SNL. I am truly impressed with Tamar. I love love love her voice. The more I watch it the more it makes me feel like I wanna cry because of how she expresses herself with her voice. I LOVE THAT!
And I cannot remember who it was, CalhounSq or RhondaB I think, but I agree that this should be shopped and rotated to the gospel audience And I also have to say the twins are nowhere near as cheezy as D&P And they sound like they can really sing too . That "hey, hey, hey" is the one part that makes me wince. It's just so corny sounding and out of place.
I keep wondering, if MJB sang this song, would I like it? Probably would. Tamar could be a contestant from "American Idol"

I agree i could care less about Tamar. I feel she will go as far as Carmen Electra did with prince. If it were not for prince backing no one would even know her name
SDNafka said: MendesCity said: Really? I think it's a step down. Very forumulaic and I can't say I'm sold on Tamar's talent yet. I could care less about Tamar too - singers are a dime a dozen and they all sound more or less the same these days, just another one off the production line. Yes, the song is formulaic alright. I just think it works, for what it is, better than the Musicology stuff. Personally, I'd rather see Prince continue in the direction he starting moving in with TRC but it doesn't seem like that's gonna happen anytime soon. In the meantime he's playing it safe and drawing upon some of the sounds and compositional techniques the he knows worked in the past and giving them a contemporary twist in the hope of scoring a hit or two. As far as that goes, he's done OK.

She sure knows how to show good taste in acknowledging her teacher and promoter during her 'superstar' moment. She can sing and she's smart too and that probably only part of what Prince sees in her.

This song is an excellent, accessible r&b pop song, that is catchy with several diffferent melodies and funky guitar--->the likes of which Prince hasn't done in donkeys years. It should shoot up the charts more easily than Black Sweat (although both should be right up there). The live version of BBL was great but I love the studio version more. What I am loving about both these songs is that Prince is doing again what he used to so well , which was to take a simple, very catchy song idea and add a higher level of complexity that remains anchored to the simple song idea thus keeping it widely accessible. This recipe is then layered on top with little bits and deft touches that you discover after several listens which keep you hooked and coming back for more. I've waited for two songs like this since I first became a fan in 1991 and voraciously went through his back catalog. It was only a 15 year wait but hey, all good things to those who wait!

hmmmm, as far as the actual song all i have heard is the SNL version. while fury rocked BUT this one (beautiful loved and blessed), as far AS THE PERFORMANCE, was lacking... i am willing to bet this:
fury on the cd will be over-produced and lack the urgency it had live yet BL&B will have the extra polish it missed on SNL one note... everyone listen to the performance again and tell me what you think It would sound like with Chaka, Jill or Angie??? I would love to hear it with Chaka. ps those girls in the back of TAMAR on SNL they twins or what? and does he think that Diamond and Pearl are gonna work it again??? LOL what would their names be and also i will go on record by saying I like a trio of dancing singing girls to the Game Boys he had in the 90's not to impune wally and the other guy from the late 80's I may have the jelly 4 ur peanut butta but u got 31 hours and 21 minutes left.

I don't think this was posted earlier, but I was wandering around NPG and it seems as though Beautiful Loved & Blessed will be on both 3121 AND Tamar's album.
PP6 says: "The new track "Beautiful, Loved & Blessed" is on Prince's 3121 album and is additionally on Támar's debut CD, which is also titled Beautiful, Loved and Blessed. On the CD single it states that the song is on both CDs." (italics added) I'm not so keen on that for some reason. I mean I like the song okay and I was planning on buying her CD anyway but now that's one less "new" song on 3121. Oh well. Knowing Prince, I guess tracklists could still change... The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
